My January Favourites

As you know if you have seen any of my other favourites I am very random in what I pick. Its generally what has brought me joy that month.

January has been a funny one in the way that it feels like it has gone on forever but in reality its exactly the same and today is its last day.

So here are a few favourites from the first month of 2018

Paper planes

I have heard this song so many times on the radio I can’t help but sing along and I think that Hoseah Partch has such a wonderful tone to his voice and I look forward to listening to more of his songs.

Learning a new language

img_3158

Every year for the last two or three years I have had on my list of things to do is learn a new language and I have always chosen Italian,  because I think its a passionate language – but I never got too far when trying to speak it. So there is a story behind why I want to learn welsh. My mum is half welsh and we have family in Wales so I thought it made more sense. Plus I hope to go there this year or next, so maybe could show off a bit. ha ha. I’m not too far in on Duolingo (which is a free app with loads of languages to choose from) I love Bora da which is good morning and nos da which is goodnight. I’ll keep you updated on my progress – I will stick to it.

Green pinaforeimg_3157

I have this one dress that I wish they did in every colour as I love the style of it and it fits just right. I did size up to a 12 as I have an hourglass figure. It’s from Primark in a green suede for £10 which for the quality of it I don’t think its that badly priced. My mum did manage to pick it up in a charcoal grey a few weeks ago but I have only worn it once so far. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a black one.

Archers and lemonadeimg_3159

I know last month I said that I loved Dooleys toffee vodka and it will always be my favourite, but I have started eating more healthier and I guess I needed to find a healthier alcoholic drink too.  Back in my early twenties this was what tickled my taste buds and after trying one the memories came flooding back. Peach is the only flavour I’ve seen in the actual spirit,  but I remember having raspberry alcopop archers back in the day. It was bloody yum.

Daisy

img_3160

I just had to include daisy in my favourites…Daisy is my niece, she’s a year and a half and she is such a cute one and clever for her age too. We shared some lovely moments this month and I loved it when she sat up to the table in a big chair and had a takeaway with us. She hasn’t quite grasped my name yet so, for the time being, I am Auntie Hoddy.

Journalling

img_3161

I gushed over this journal in my review of the happy journal and I am still in love with it and how it really gets you thinking about what you want and using your creative mind to get planning. Its only been a month but I am pretty sure all the other pages are just as great. If you love writing like me you’ll love it too.

Pinterest

img_3162

Lastly Pinterest, I have always loved using this app for inspiration but then in December it stopped working properly on my phone and laptop and I could only get on it intermittently. I was rather miffed but so I sent an email to the developers. A few weeks went by of them trying to fix it and then I tried it one night and its worked ever since. My Pinterest addiction is back. I would always say to anyone to download the app it has everything you could think of.

Those were my favourite things I hope you enjoyed reading about why they make me smile.

Q AND A WITH SWEET ALLURE

Today’s feature on the blog is Tarnya from Sweet Allure

img_3153

I have been following Tarnya for some time and I was delighted when she wanted to come on my blog to do a Q and A.

so without further ado  let’s jump in with the Questions

1) What are your top 3 favourite books?

I couldn’t possibly pick just ONE book from the Harry Potter series, so I’ll have to say the entire series as my first choice!

Then I absolutely love Survivor by Chuck Palahniuk, it’s dark but I love all of his books.

Then lastly I’d have to say Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur, I read it recently and it really rekindled my love for poetry.

2) What is your favourite cruelty-free brand/product?

I love Nars, Charlotte Tilbury and The Ordinary for CF make up! Also Superdrug own brand is good and affordable too!

3) What did you want to be when you were asked at the start of school and has it changed?

I wanted to be a Vet when I was younger, but then I heard you had to put your arm up a cows bottom and changed my mind! I’ve never really known what I want to do, but I’m happy with my current job as a games tester in the Video Game Industry.

4) What are your favourite arty things to create?

I actually am obsessed with photography, it’s my favourite thing. I want to try and incorporate more photography with art like an art journal or scrapbook this year for fun.

It began 3 years ago

Here you go here’s your stockings and gown, it won’t be long and you’ll be ready to go down. Sign right here to go under the knife, I swear this operation will change your life.

Today marks 3 years since I had my bladder stoma (also known as Mavis) I will do a video in a week or two to tell you all about it and the struggles along the way.

I just thought it was an occasion to write about as it has impacted my life since 2015.

I couldn’t be happier with it and I really couldn’t live without it.

Happy Sunday

Much love…Me xxx

Oh and here’s a quote I found quite fitting.

It’s personal to me

I don’t know about you but I just love having things that nobody else has kind of bespoke. One of a kind. A few things I am featuring today are just that.

I will start off with my laptop it’s a ASUS 2-1 with stylus you can find it on PC World and I love it it’s small and just enough for me to put well anywhere I like. I have had it for a few months and thought I need to jazz it up a bit so I got some sticker paper and searched for the things that I love from google images which as you can see are Spotify, Netflix, WordPress, Twitter, My Blog and Wi-fi. Of course it had to be pink cos that’s just me.

Next is a Name Necklace that I was kindly sent from Ineffabless. I have a nice little collection of their jewellery now. I chose a personalised necklace because I hadn’t had one with my name on for years and thought it was simple but edgy at the same time. I wear it every day, haven’t taken it off since I got it in the post that’s how much I love it.

These next 3 things are from 3 separate people. First of all the light up H I got for my Birthday it was from Hobbycraft. It’s actually quite bright. I’m unsure if they are still stocking them. Then I got this H notepad and I believe the person who bought it for me got it in Matalan at Christmas so there may still be some in their stationery collection. I am yet to use it, however there are tonnes of pages so I’m sure I can fill them up at some point. Lastly the mug. So simple but yet so mine. There isn’t anyone else in the family with my initial so of course it’s mine. It was from Home Bargains and I know they still have them.

Believe it or not I got this iPhone 6s case for £6.49 from Amazon of all places and it’s one of the best quality cases I’ve ever put in my phone and it looks pretty and it’s personal to me and I have a lot of compliments about it. They have other styles and for other models too so I reckon if you like mine you should take a nosey

Thanks for reading and I’ll see you in my next post

Til then…

A SKINCARE ROUTINE THATS KIND TO YOUR PURSE

As I am writing this I am absolutely kicking myself.

These products are what i use in my new skincare regime, however are now buy one get one free. The annoyance is… I bought them all full price literally the other week.

27018771_10156155517444479_1024055308_o.jpg

Let me take you from left to right and talk about each product from the Naturally Radiant range at Superdrug.

Glycolic Overnight Peel – Before opening it I had pictures in my head of my face being stuck to my pillow when I woke up. That was not the case. It went on like a thin layer, and dried in no time. When I woke up it didn’t take much to remove it, in fact I just used some warm water. It recommends to use it twice a week, you don’t need very much so it will last a while.

2 in 1 Moisturiser and Serum – I wanted to buy this as my skin suffers from dry patches and it specified it was for dry skin so I thought why not give it a go. I have been applying a little before my makeup as a primer and then sometimes at the end of the day too. Sometimes applying it the next morning is not needed. I really like it and it does the job and I love that it’s a light product in a pump bottle too. Happy Holly.

Brightening Hot Cloth Cleanser – I only decided to buy this as I really couldn’t justify spending a big amount on the Liz Earle one if it wasn’t any good for my skin so that’s why I went hunting for a cheaper alternative, and found this one. I love the concept of it removing all your make up just like that. I do on occasions use a face wipe before doing the cleanser as I think it speeds up the routine if you want to get in bed that tiny bit quicker. Thumbs up for me and its a fraction of the price of the more expensive Cleanse and polish… I forgot to add it comes with a cloth too.

Brightening Micro Polish   – This is a gentle exfoliator that really does wonders to the condition of my skin. I only use a small amount and work it into my dry patches mainly before distributing it to the rest of my face. I have only used this twice as I have done it once a week and I have to say I am impressed.

Brightening Eye Cream – Since I am now in my 30’s I thought I best start looking after my eyes and I must admit I do suffer with dark circles under my eyes. Thankfully no bags yet. So i decided to get an eye cream to apply before bed to work overnight and leave me with less shading underneath and it’s early days but I am hoping it improves them a little bit.Its not a miracle cream at the mo but it has potential.

THE ADDED BONUS IS ITS CRUELTY-FREE

So if you’re interested in any of them then take a nosey on the Superdrug website here or click on the products mentioned above. Be quick before the offer is gone though.

Thanks for stopping by

Whats on my mind?

All that has been written here today is just off the top of my head, no filter just whatever is on my mind.

26239767_10156147672559479_6742931260170992355_n.jpg

It’s now close to 3 weeks into the new year and it hasn’t been the new year I was totally envisioning, but nevertheless its been pretty positive one most of the time.

I started doing weight watchers New Years Day and it wasn’t that I thought I was fat, cos I’m not. I have just got some unwanted inches from being sat/led down a lot. Not being able to sleep in my bedroom upstairs because of the paralysis in my legs and having my bed in the lounge next to the kitchen was asking for a bit of weight gain. I would comfort eat because I felt sad of how life had changed for me in a blink of an eye. Anyway, i am losing weight which is good. Slow but steady and that’s how I prefer rather than all at once.

I’ll keep you updated as my journey with that goes on.

Having a few chronic illnesses I guess they are going to rear their ugly head at some point, and it seemed like January was the month that my anxiety picked. I have been worrying about the future and what life will be like with a disability and will I ever be back to normal. The thing I need to get in my head is what will be will be and just to be positive, not to focus on the things that get me down and I can’t control.

I have also had a bit of writers block of late, so if you were wondering where my blog posts were – its because I hit a wall. I know what I want to write about but putting the words down has been hard. However, i think my mojo is back and I am ready to give blogging my all. I’m going to write from the heart and not whats on trend as I know there are so many people who just follow suit. I always look at writing as being an outlet and also to give people my honest opinion/advice and on occasions make them laugh.

Just so you know, from now on it will be whatever I think about writing on that day and I hope you will still enjoy reading it. Some occasions it may be scheduled but on a whole I want to bring it to you from the brain to laptop to you FRESH.

Keep an eye out for videos and audio messages too as I love adding personal touches to every post.

Love you all and appreciate you reading.
