Month: December 2019

Let’s do 2020

I found this one on we heart it and thought it was quite apt for this post.

Taking any bad vibes into 2020 will do you no favours. So if you are one of those that likes to start a fresh every new year this is for you.

Things that no longer serve you with happiness in your life need to be left in 2019.

Some see the new year as just another day but me personally I see it as a positive thing.

Change is 99.9% always a good idea 😘

Wishing you all a Happy New year and may 2020 be fab in every way xxx

10 years ago to now

Let’s take you back 10 years to the year 2009.

That January I had started the year with a hurting heart from being dumped just after Christmas. Turned out the bloke was a right dickhead.

I had lost a bit of weight in 2009 too after having my gallbladder out a few months before, so I was about 8 and a half stone.

Mum and me were also searching for a house as we had sold our house and needed to find one fast to move into. It was part of her divorce so decided to look for rented property. Just after Christmas that year we found it and moved in there in the Jan of 2010.

So now it’s the end of 2019 and wow what a year its been.

I started the year having my bladder out, and having a stoma, which has been quite a problematic thing so more surgery is needed soon.

I have found out who I really am, with my spirituality, my sexuality (I will fall in love with whoever I find attractive regardless of gender … Simple as that) and found out how strong I can be in shitty situations.

I’ve lost a friend I thought would always have my back, her loss. But also gained a really awesome friend she was in my year at school and I’m so glad to have her in my life as she makes me laugh so much and it feels like we’ve been good friends since like forever.

December Favourites

The last Favourites of the year. I really do like looking at all the previous months as well and see what made me happy.

I’ll leave the previous 11 at the bottom of this post if you want to have a nosey.

Here is some of Decembers bits that have made me happy.

ALIEN PERFUME DEODORANT

I never knew that I could get my favourite perfume in a deodorant/body spray until I was nosing on the perfume shop website and there it was. For 100ml it’s just perfect to fit inside a handbag. Smells beautiful. I am forever getting compliments on the scent, so it’s a no brainer to at least go get a spray of it yourself at your local chemist.

PINK WIG

DC9DB70B-50B5-4642-A61F-B54252E5E1CC

Most of you would’ve seen me wearing a couple of wigs as I’m a bit fed up of the length it is so until it’s a bob style I’ll be wearing one of my 3 wigs. This is the one I love at the moment, it is very me as I love pink.

IPAD COVER

FDEF6163-E86C-48A4-A945-A64DE684B3FA

I have had an iPad for a year or so now, but I now have a pencil I can use to draw on it, a cheaper one than the Apple Pencil so I needed a cover that would keep it with the iPad so this is it. It’s very girly and practical. I love it.

DIARY AND JOURNAL

Collage 2019-12-27 15_33_50.jpg

Both of these are from Paperchase, one was a gift (the 5 mins before bed) and then i bought the pink one (one day one question). I love a diary/journal to write in…it’s just remembering to do it everyday. So these will be in eyeshot so I make them a habit to do.

FOOD

1CAF2832-0AA6-45C4-B028-648ED9BB913B

These have always been the ones I reach for out of all the Haribo sweets. But it’s been about 20 years that I’ve been calling them Tangfantastics until a few days ago I spotted its Tanfastics 🙈

SONG

I heard this song on the radio one evening in bed and thought it was so lovely. The original is of course great but I thought Celine Dions voice was so pure.

what’s been your favourite thing throughout December…other than Christmas?

BLOGMAS #24

Wow, what an awesome 24 days it has been. Writing Christmas posts on my blog was a spur of the moment thing but so glad I did. It’s bought out my creativity and I’ve read some other bloggers blogmas posts which I loved reading .

So to finish it off I thought I would include my Christmas nails on Day 24. I painted them the weekend for a Christmas get together and yes they are my real nails…since I was 11 they’ve been that long. Mum was going to put me in for hand modelling at one stage.

I used Avons Gel Finish in the shade 12225 (like a real rouge red) typical there’s no name on the bottle.

That was the base and then I used Rimmel Glitter High Coverage in the shade 002 Ruby Crush.

I’ve had so many compliments asking if I had them professionally done. They took me all of 10 mins and I’m so happy with the results. Shows you don’t have to spend loads on your nails to get them noticed.

I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New year, thank you for taking the time to read my blog this year.

Best get planning for the year ahead on Holzieloves. If I don’t post on here before December is out I’ll definitely be back as soon as January is here.

Much loves xxx

At Christmas, a scent or a taste can really get you in the mood.

These are a few that I’ve found from Yankee and Starbucks

Festive Candles

  • After Sledding
  • Candlelit cabin
  • Evergreen mist
  • Pomegranate gin fizz

Festive Drinks

These ones are available to get in Starbucks

    • Toasted Marshmallow Hot Chocolate.
    • Gingerbread Latte
    • Toffee Nut Latte
    • Eggnog Latte

Are any of these your favourite or do you have a different one?

BLOGMAS #22

Instead of favourite Christmas songs I thought I’d find a playlist with all the Christmas number one hits over the years and of course good old Spotify had one.

Which one is your favourite?

Me the nostalgia comes back with East 17 – Stay another day with all of them with white coats and fluffy hoods.

BLOGMAS #21

Can’t beat a winter Q and A so I thought I’d do one for todays post.

1. GREEN CHRISTMAS OR WHITE CHRISTMAS?

White Christmas.I love it when it looks outside just like it does on a Christmas card.

2. WOULD YOU RATHER SNUGGLE UP WITH A BLANKET OR GO OUTSIDE AND PLAY IN THE SNOW?

Snuggle up in the warm with a blanket and hot water bottle and just appreciate how pretty it looks.

3. HOW DO YOU TYPICALLY CELEBRATE NEW YEARS?

It all depends on my health, if I can go out I do. But I don’t mind staying in either.

4. FAVORITE WINTER FOOD?

Mums stew from the slow cooker with dumplings

5. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SEASONAL DRINK?

Don’t really drink so I would probably have a shloer

6. HOW EARLY DO YOU DECORATE FOR CHRISTMAS?

As late as possible without looking like a grinch

7. DO YOU ENJOY THE COLD WEATHER OR DO YOU GET ANXIOUS FOR SPRING TO COME?

I have always suffered with poor circulation so the warmer weather is always welcomed

8. DO YOU HAVE ANY SPECIAL HOLIDAY TRADITIONS?

Make sure I watch The snowman

9. WHAT IS YOUR IDEA OF A PERFECT WINTER DAY?

Hot choc, film, an open fire, candles, blankets and my family…and tub of celebrations

10. WHAT’S THE BEST PART ABOUT WINTER?

Better programmes on the TV

11. WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE MOVIE SET IN THE WINTER SEASON? (NOT NECESSARILY A CHRISTMAS MOVIE)

I like watching reruns of all the oldies like only fools and horses, vicar of Dibley and The Royale family (with Ricky Tomlinson)

12. WHAT DO YOU HATE ABOUT WINTER?

Icy paths, Dark mornings and all day fog.
