Standing up to a bully

After 17 years – that’s how long since I left school you would think that bullying may have been a thing of the past. To be honest I think it’s got 10 times worse.

I was sadly a victim of bullying from alot of my year at school all because my skin wasn’t clear. I was verbally abused and then come the end of school physically.

It won’t ever leave me, but I always think I never want anyone else to have the sadness and pain I did. I know in reality that there will be thousands in the world who will feel the same pain.

Here is how you can spot a cactus friend – those that pretend to be your friend then stab you in the back…and a flower friend – the ones who truly love you and love to see you bloom.

They say it takes a bigger person to walk away from a bully. If you feel strong enough inside to stand up for yourself then don’t let someone walk all over you. But in turn don’t be horrible and become a bully in the process.

Bullying doesn’t just doesn’t happen when you’re young… People of any age fall victim and its so very sad. Cyber crime is on the up as people find it an easy way to target the vulnerable.

If we keep speaking about anti bullying, and looking after ourselves and our friends maybe one day it’ll be something we don’t have to worry about.

Fierce Female Friday

For a month on a Friday I am going to be featuring some awesome women on a little series called fierce female Friday…

I thought I’d start off with me..

1. What makes you feel powerful?

Being able to have my own mind, create my own happiness, and wear what the hell I like. Being unique/one of a kind.

2. What 3 strong women do you look up to?

My mum of course, she takes everything in her stride. She has to put up with me too ha ha.

Stacey Solomon, she has worked so very hard to get to where she is today. She’s an inspiration. If you don’t follow her Instagram you really should.

My hospital nurse Rachel, who’s been through all my surgeries with me and helped me in between. She works so hard and is passionate about her job. She’s one in a million.

3. What advice would you give to someone needing to find their inner fierceness?

Stand up and be counted, never let anyone quieten you. Don’t let anything keep you down for too long. Life is for being the best version of you so go out there and kick some ass….not literally 🙈

Please look out for next week’s fierce female.

Lots of love, have an awesome weekend xxx

Nyxie from Nyxies Nook

I’m a mental health blogger who focuses on eating disorder recovery, depression, anxiety and general wellness of the self. The blog was started in March 2019 in a bid to raise awareness for mental illness such as Anorexia Nervosa and Anxiety, two such disorders I suffer from. However, what started out as a hobby, quickly turned into something much, much more!

Nyxie’s Nook has become a place to talk about all mental health issues and the struggles that come along with recovery. I cover a variety of subjects ranging from general wellness right up to more specific recovery-related content. I not only aim to cater to those in recovery but to people in all walks of life.

Watch out for who I have next Friday

You can’t help it

I want you all to really digest this…

You can’t help who you are as a person, what choices you want to persue in life – whether it’s your career or something else. It’s whatever your heart tells you to follow.

You can’t help who you fall for, whether it’s the opposite sex or the same sex, religion or race.

You can help by being happy with what your heart or head has chosen for you.

Keep being you and staying true.

❤️

Til next time

Love is love

I truly believe that the heart chooses whoever it beats fast for, the one person who makes you have butterflies that feels so magical you don’t want it to go.

Some people have fallen in love many times and some just this once but let me tell you this

from the age of let’s say 15 looked at love like this: It doesn’t matter what gender you fall for, it’s the person, their personality, the way you get when you’re around them.

You just know and I don’t think anyone should ever feel like they can’t be in love with someone because they are the same sex, or a different race or religion.

Love feels the same no matter who it’s with

This t-shirt is from boohoo just incase you fancy getting yourself one.

Stay true and be you ❤️

Being Bisexual is not a phase your going through

These colours are what represents the bisexual community. Its something i have always been up for chatting about and finding out more about.

From my recent posts you can see i am most definately into men and i have only ever been in relationships with men.

From about 14 years old i knew that i was also attracted to women. But if i had to say back then i was bisexual i didn’t know what it properly meant and you definitely would have been picked on. Shame on people who just didn’t get it. I was already having the worst time being bullied because of my spotty skin so i just kept it under cover.

Being bi you don’t have to of had sex with a woman, to of even kissed a woman. The attraction that you feel for a man, you get for a woman too.

LETS ALSO GET THIS STRAIGHT ( excuse the pun)

You don’t instantly fancy every woman and man you see. In fact i generally don’t even know the women i find attractive. You can be in a relationship with a man and still be bi you aren’t automatically straight and vice versa.

Sexual orientation shouldn’t have to be labelled these days and also when you say i think I’m bi, people say oh its just a phase…is being straight a phase too then?

Be who you want to be and love who you want to love too.

Glad to of got that off my chest.

A little fundraiser

Me and my lovely Mum have come to the same conclusion that my self-propelled wheelchair is not helping either of us… Mum finds it hard to push me as she’s only 4ft 11, she’s no spring chicken and I’m 10 stone…My arms play up too which then I can’t help propel. The most sensible thing is to get a powerchair so I can be more independent.

That’s what I’m looking to get. It’s not cheap and we aren’t rich so I’ve set up a page today.

HOLLYS JUST GIVING PAGE

I’d be so grateful if you could spare any pennies to help me get about a bit better. No pressure though.

Much loves and I’ll say thank you in advance.

See you in my next post xxx
