Feature Friday Q &A

Todays feature Friday is Marissa Dolan from INROOROOSWORLD.

Marissa is a very brave and courageous young woman and I am so glad to have her on my blog today.

Her openness warmed my heart and I hope it will with you.

On we go with the questions…

How long have you had diabetes for and had it ever stopped you from doing anything in life?

I have had Diabetes since the age of 4, in April 2018 it will be 20 long years. For me I have tried to not let this illness stop me from doing anything and so far it has yet to stop me.

A song that reminds you of your childhood?

Off the top of my head, the song that immediately comes to my mind is Wannabe by the Spice Girls. My sisters and I were (still are) HUGE fans and most likely always will be.

A song that makes you happy?

The first song that makes me the happiest has to be I Wanna Dance with Somebody by Whitney Houston.

A song that helps you through tough times?

Whenever I’m feeling down I hate to sound extremely corny but my go-to song is Fight Song by Rachel Platten. I love the message it gives and I can relate to it so much.

What famous person do you look up to and why?

I have a few celebs that I obsess over but, the most inspirational celebrity to me is Demi Lovato. She has been so open about her daily struggles and gives us all a reason to keep pushing through because she does with such grace and it’s very inspiring.

Why did you start blogging?

I started blogging because I have always wanted to share my life story. Whether that’s about my diabetes or just daily tips I can give, I love sharing what I have been through and honestly blogging has helped me so much with being more outgoing and I love this community it’s amazing!

What happened in November

While I’ve just burnt by mouth on my very hot hot chocolate (I will learn one day) I thought I’d go through the month of November with you…

I can’t really do a favourites with you as I was in hospital most of November having intensive therapy to try and help my mobility. So I only came out of there last week so I have just been getting back to feeling at home and not being woken by other people’s bells.

I was homesick a lot because since moving back in with my Mum I have always had company and never felt alone. But I was miles away from everyone so it was FaceTime and phone calls. I think I would have climbed the wall if I didn’t have any means of talking to anyone from my neck of the woods.

Although I had a lot of help the paralysis is still happening everyday. I get about 4-6 hours rest before it all starts again…mainly overnight which is good cos I can curl up and snuggle down in.

I went in a little apprehensive and negative but came out with a mindful and positive outlook and a tiny improvement to my legs. Any improvement is better than none at all.

Next month I hope to have loads to put in my December favourites.

Til next time

September Favourites

I’ve seen better Septembers than this one but some things are just in the lap of the gods and we have to get on the best we can.

I do however like to have a look back at what things did make me happy/helped in some way throughout the month.

Here goes….

BEAUTY:

MASK OF MAGNAMINTY FACE MASK BY LUSH £11.99

READING:

FOUND ON ANAZON KINDLE APP FREE WITH PRIME OR £4.99 FOR PAPERBACK

LISTENING:

QUEEN GREATEST HITS – HOW CAN YOU NOT LOVE FREDDIE MERCURY.

PERSONAL

This gorgeous little peach…my niece Daisy came over to visit me and Mum and we were both shocked when she got down off my brothers lap and ran across the room. My eyes filled with tears of Joy. I got her to say Hol Hol too which made me smile. Being an auntie is one of the best feelings in the world. You feel so loved. I became one at 12 and they’ve just kept coming since.

QUOTE OF THE MONTH:

BEING THERE FOR SOMEONE ELSE BRINGS WARMTH TO YOUR HEART AS WELL AS THEIRS SO WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO LOSE?

Thanks for having a nosey and I’ll see you in my next post…

AUGUST FAVES

Here are a few things that I’ve loved in the month of August.

If I had spent more time out of hospital than in there would be loads more but here’s what I came up with.

Ok so here goes…..

HP SPROCKET PRINTER

img_0906

I’d had this on my Amazon wish list since just after Christmas and when I first went into hospital I was feeling rather down so I thought 8 months was long enough to keep the HP Sprocket waiting so I bought it. Totally worth waiting for. You just download the app that goes with it and buy the printer paper 2×3 of any make (as it’s cheaper not being HP) and away you go. Below I have a few ideas I may use mine for.

AN OLD FAVOURITE I FOUND –  LOVERDOSE PERFUME

I reckon it was about 3 years ago I first bought this. It has a very girly smell not as strong as Britneys signature perfumes. I’ll hold my hand up and admit I still have Fantasy in my perfume collection.

Anyway, I was on Superdrug’s website looking for a present for my friend and there  Loverdose was. I was like oh my, that’s nostalgic. My Mum decided to treat me to it cos she’s such a babe. So now I smell bloody beautiful.

A SPLASH OF COLOUR TO THE GARDEN SHED

img_0858

Those of you that follow me on my blog Instagram would have already seen this. Finally, our little shed at the bottom of the garden had a makeover. I absolutely love it. We went with a purple door because I wasn’t allowed a pink one so it was a compromise. Now looking out on even the shittiest of days the garden will still brighten my day.

GLAMOURS PODCAST – A MUST LISTEN

img_0914

You know that purple app on your iPhone that you think is rather pointless. It’s actually full of hilarious and informative stuff. Podcasts have been my saviour of late as they are so relaxing to listen to when you feel a bit anxious. So Glamour has a 40-ish minute podcast with celebrities talking about all sorts of topics ranging from social media to problems, to things that irritate you. It’s Called Hey, it’s ok… It’s definitely a laugh out loud Podcast and if you needed a pick me up this is it. My favourites have been Rylan, Fearne Cotton and Dawn O’ Porter. Don’t diss the purple app, go take a look.

Last but not least is a random favourite

WARBURTON CRUMPETS
I pretty much eat these on a daily basis only because they are very low fat and the calories are too. I love having sweet or savoury on them. Honey or cheese has to be my favourite choice at the moment.  Quick to do and only £1 what’s not to like.
