Five Planner Essentials

Today I thought I would talk you through these helpful things that help me plan a bit better than just plain old pen and paper.

I want you to know this, you can use these 5 essentials for anything in life not just blogging.

img_3536

AN A3 WHITEBOARD

I bought this in Whsmiths sometime last year for £6.99 I think I am pretty sure they still will be in there now. I have used a piece of pink card cut up into how many topics I want to cover wrote on with a sharpie to stand out and stuck on with magnetic tape which you can buy from Amazon for under a fiver.  I find that when I am planning blog posts I can bring down the relevant one and do a spidergram with all my ideas. I really do find it really handy. I then either take a pic on the phone of my ideas and add to OneNote or write it in a book.

img_3531

A DIY TO DO LIST

I made this to help me stay on track with what I had to do whether it was blog related or not it, and its super helpful. Write your thing to do on the tape and stick it up there on the board, when its done take it down..simple. I bought the mini clipboard from good old Wilkos The sticky blackboard paper and coloured tape from Amazon. These are two places I love to get my stationary from as its so cheap.

img_3542

A SELECTION OF NOTELETS AND WEEKLY PLANNER SHEETS

When out shopping and I come across notelets or weekly planners you can guarantee I’ve grabbed one or the other off the shelf and shoved it in my basket. They are great if you have an idea but don’t want to use up a whole sheet of paper or don’t have your technology to hand. The prettier they are sometimes you don’t want to use them. I got the first one in the sale in Primark for £3 possibly less, and the last two in HomeSense.I wish these had online stores, I would be penniless and many of you too.

img_3546

A NOTEBOOK FOR LITERALLY ANYTHING

I bought this years ago but I can’t remember where, and I didn’t write in it as I thought I want it to be organised and just about one thing when in fact the list on the front said it all write all sorts in there. So that’s what I have started to do. If you want to keep it in some sort of order then adapt it to your needs with an index, washi tape for marked pages, however, you wish.

img_3548

AN INSPIRATION PINBOARD

Go pick up a large pinboard from your local supermarket or stationery store, open up Pinterest and look for some inspiration that’s going to keep you going when you are writing.  These are a few I printed out a few months ago and I do need to add a few more. You could make it into a vision board, put all your notes on it, photographs of people that make you smile or your cat or dog…you really can use it for anything.

There you have it I thought I would stick to 5 as I could have gone on and on. I’d love to hear what things you use to plan/organise yourselves.

Have a fab day and thanks for reading

Clinique Chubby Sticks

I actually went out yesterday shopping what felt like the first time in forever. I guess because we have such luxuries as online shopping the high street sometimes gets neglected.

So we happened to stumble into this makeup store and I was only nosing and didn’t intend on buying anything as I am a bit like miss money penny I look after my money usually and only spend if I really do need it….or need cheering up.

well, these just jumped off the shelf and straight into my hands.

img_3438

They are Clinique chubby sticks I was completely sold when I saw the shades being a total pinkaholic it was a 4 gone conclusion they were coming home with me.

It was my first thing I had ever had from Clinique apart from the odd freebie in a magazine. It was in an Outlet store so the price was £24 instead of £35 so it worked out £8 pounds a chubby stick so, to be honest, it wasn’t that bad for the purse. Plus it’s not as if I buy high-end products all the time.

  • So you have 05 Plushest Punch which is an intense colour and is inbetween a pink and a red
  • Then 06 Woppin’ Watermelon which is a toned down pink so you have some colour but not too in your face.
  • Finally 03 Budding Blossom which is more of a pink shine so for those days when you just want a tiny moisture and pinkiness

I am really impressed with them and can’t wait to wear them more.

Just remember this – Never come between a girl and her lipstick.

Hope you are all having a fab weekend so far. Thanks for stopping by 💋

My typical day

a6c48520b772d6e843e0d60cf866b2bf

When my alarm goes off I really do struggle to get out of my snuggly warm bed I am good though i will only snooze it once occasionally twice before I get my bum out of bed and make some breakfast. I am one of those that can’t go without breakfast I think its when I was younger I was told it was the most important meal of the day and that’s now instilled in my head.

afdcd107648a8b8b4d0dc3b92e150bc9

Off I go and get myself ready for the day whether its a day in or out I think its best to get ready first thing, I usually do a deep cleanse the night before, so I make sure my skin is prepped for my makeup and the rest of me squeaky clean too.

d5dc74771d09e745242d4b11682237cd

I am quite routine with my makeup I am not too adventurous so it takes me about 15 mins tops. I look like I have some on but not too made up. I save that for special occasions. That’s when I need to watch the youtube tutorials for tips.

afecd799d1368076b6a73f8532ce4ed1

I get myself dressed and more than likely since I am a home bird I am in for the majority of the day so I grab all my technology bits such as my laptop, mobile and headphones. This is where I will do some blogging, online shopping or watch some youtube or Netflix.

b6170f50c456989d1b756e2d198d1eee

Being a typical woman I have some days where I am waiting for a parcel to turn up with some goodies in that takes forever to get here. Why couldn’t the driver be psychic and know I hate waiting and deliver to me first.

5e4ad88a9115c2d2603af4e664b0ad06

I of course have my lunch and I must confess I am a bit of a chocoholic so I snack on whatever chocolate bar I fancy on that day. A little bit of what you fancy does you good or so I’ve been told.

New Phototastic Collage

I do love my music I can’t go a day without listening to it so out come the earphones and on goes Spotify. I love how you can get lost in a song or an album and travel back in time. Sometimes I do take the odd selfie if I am feeling really good about how I look, self-love is good for you anyway.

87c17cf62aa0089fc13bc7ee7685b5e8

After my tea when I am watching the soaps or some documentary I grab myself an Ovaltine or hot chocolate. I am not that much of a hot drink person apart from these two. It helps me settle down for the night.

8d1cd6fe9c8e1d5fd4d39d10d578b77f

Then off I go to bed and I generally have a nosey on social media and have a quick chat with my friends on there then its lights out and to the land of nod.

There you are that’s my typical day

All of the above is adapted due to needing a wheelchair most of the time but I do what I can the best I can.

Thanks for stopping by to read my post

He loves me, he loves me not

I’m sat here with soppy love songs blasting out of my iPhone, this playlist to be exact…

Takes me back to my school days of writing ‘Holly 4 Tom 4eva’ on my rough book, doing he loves me loves me not with a daisy and getting super excited when it landed on he loves me. The crushes on the older lads that you could only ever dream or write about. There’s plenty of entries in my diaries in the 90s of days I saw my crush and how my heart skipped a beat and all that crap…its so funny thinking back at it now.

However, I didn’t have a proper boyfriend until year 10. He was also who I lost my virginity to which was not how I planned to do it and be slightly underage but peer pressure got to me and well it happened…thought I was pregnant and told my Mum. Ooo the disappointment…soon after I told her my period came on the bloody irony literally.

I wrote about my love life here if you fancy a read…

I am however very single at the moment. I know what I want in a relationship – its just I need to find someone who can accept that yes my legs don’t work properly 90% of the time and I need loving that little bit more, who enjoys snuggling up but equally go on fun adventures..oh dear this sounds like I’m making an ad for a dating site…i’ll stop now haha.

Tomorrow is Valentines Day and I hope you enjoy it whether you are happily single or with someone who makes your world rock.

It’s been nice reminiscing. People say don’t look back but some of your most favourite memories are there.

A Random Q and A

it’s Saturday morning, it’s peeing down outside, how English…

Anyways I thought I would do a very laid back post today and find some questions from good old Pinterest to answer. Some may be quite interesting others may be a bit random, its all a bit of fun so let’s begin.

What did you want to be when you were younger?

I wanted to be an author. I wanted to write from a young age and my dream has come true. My book is now on Amazon.

which friends character do you relate to the most?

I would have loved to of said Rachael but I am going to have to say Phoebe because of her randomness.  I like her can’t sing to save my life but give it a good try.

whats your favourite accent?

I absolutely love the Irish accent. On a weekly basis, you would hear me and my mum saying words in an Irish accent. I find it funny that they don’t really pronounce TH. I like the welsh too but an Irish man talking just melts me.

Do you have any scars?

I have 3 keyhole scars from my gallbladder removal 10 years ago, a big scar from my bladder reconstruction surgery from 3 years ago. oooo and from troublesome skin, I have some scarring on my cheeks. All scars have a story.

Favourite swear word?

I am going to say fuck. I have after all the years of writing fuck on a text message and it comes up duck I have it sorted…put it in your phone book. no number needed and your phone won’t get it mixed up. I don’t condone swearing all the time just when it’s needed.

Whats your guilty pleasure?

I think most of my friends and readers know I have a weakness for silver foxes also even though he isn’t grey I love a bit of Colin Firth. Who doesn’t?

What are you wearing?

A pink cropped hooded jumper, black leggings, Disney socks, an oversized scarf and a hot water bottle…yes I am wearing it. it’s never too far away.

Favourite boys and girls name?

I love the name Frankie for a boy and Lola for a girl…i actually would change my name to Lola if I could.

Favourite movie ever

Bridget obviously….closely followed by Dirty Dancing and Now and Then…all very quotable I could watch them over and over again without getting bored.

A celebrity you can’t stand?

I can’t stand Michael Macintyre simply because I really don’t like a comedian who laughs at his own jokes before the audience has. Give me Mickey Flanagan any day.

Ever skinny dipped?

No never skinny dipped but I definitely wouldn’t say no…something about just being free and in the sea, it’s like a ginormous bath without the bubbles.

Do you like yourself?

I didn’t use to say 2 or 3 years back.I didn’t like looking in the mirror for too long and didn’t like my body shape but I am learning to love myself and all of my flaws. I am much more body positive these days,

There you have it a get to know me in question form. I probably will do more of these at some point they get your mind thinking.

Have a fab weekend

12 APPS FOR BLOGGERS

In my year and a half of blogging, i have used umpteen apps to make things a little easier for me whilst blogging on the go.

Here are the ones I have currently on my iPhone that I use pretty much every day and just thought if you didn’t use them already I am giving you the heads up.

Here are my 12 most used apps for Blogging

download (2)

If you have to stick to a deadline or can only do a bit of blogging/ planning for a small amount of time then using 30/30 will keep you in check – it’s relatively easy to use and you can add as many things you need to do on it.

download

The things you can do with this app are endless. On OneNote you can have sections for each topic of your blog and then pages for each post. You can make notes, add pictures, bullet points, highlight and if you have a stylus pen you can draw too. I even put links in there too that I want to include on my blog.

The first one is Follow+ which is for Instagram. I don’t know about you but its the most annoying thing when you are being a loyal follower and liking this followers posts only to realise they have unfollowed you ages ago. This app you can see whos being a sneaky bugger. The same goes for Tweet Sponge, at the moment on there you can only unfollow so if you needed to block anyone for any known reason then you’d need to go to their twitter page and do it manually. Both of these are worth having.

The 3 apps I use for my images and photo editing are Snapseed, Canva and Pic Collage. Snapseed is great for sorting out the filters/tones/effects of your photo to make it look a bit different from the original. Canva is great for making Thumbnails, headers, business letter headers, whatever you like it has a wide range of designs you can design. i love it. Pic collage you can use that as you wish whether its to make a collage, make a wishlist, design logos, whatever you fancy.

StumbleUpon and Pocket are really quite powerful when you figure out how to use them to their best advantage. I have had stumbleupon for years but it just used to stay in a folder on my phone and was neglected. I now use it to add my most recent blog post and also to look for inspiration. it is great if you want to get traffic for your blog from other places other than just your social platforms. Pocket is a newbie for me but I have used it daily since. You can save any blog post or link that you see and can’t read it there and then and it saves it into a folder and you can then go and read it when you do have the time.

WordPress is the platform I use for my blog and where all the hours are spent planning what content I am going to put where and when and giving it tweaks here and there. Blogger was the first platform I tried a fair few years ago but my heart has always been with WordPress. Bloglovin’ is the app to look at all your friends blogs no matter which blogging platform they use. I really do need to use it  more regularly. Once or twice a week is not good enough.

thumb

Lastly is Influenster, the app that if you put in the effort and review products on their site. Fill out the questionnaires and join in on discussions then the people at Influenster will see that you interact on the app and will send you things free to review on your social media in the form of VoxBoxes. You will need to input all your stats on there from each social media platform they ask. This will help a little in possibly being considered for a VoxBox. I have had it two months and had my first box a few weeks ago. So don’t give up in the first week or two.

There you go, those are the apps that I enjoy using as a blogger. Go have a look on the app store and see what catches your eye other than these. There are probably ones I haven’t come across that are fab too.

Thanks for reading and I’ll see you in my next post

Til then…

My January Favourites

As you know if you have seen any of my other favourites I am very random in what I pick. Its generally what has brought me joy that month.

January has been a funny one in the way that it feels like it has gone on forever but in reality its exactly the same and today is its last day.

So here are a few favourites from the first month of 2018

Paper planes

I have heard this song so many times on the radio I can’t help but sing along and I think that Hoseah Partch has such a wonderful tone to his voice and I look forward to listening to more of his songs.

Learning a new language

img_3158

Every year for the last two or three years I have had on my list of things to do is learn a new language and I have always chosen Italian,  because I think its a passionate language – but I never got too far when trying to speak it. So there is a story behind why I want to learn welsh. My mum is half welsh and we have family in Wales so I thought it made more sense. Plus I hope to go there this year or next, so maybe could show off a bit. ha ha. I’m not too far in on Duolingo (which is a free app with loads of languages to choose from) I love Bora da which is good morning and nos da which is goodnight. I’ll keep you updated on my progress – I will stick to it.

Green pinaforeimg_3157

I have this one dress that I wish they did in every colour as I love the style of it and it fits just right. I did size up to a 12 as I have an hourglass figure. It’s from Primark in a green suede for £10 which for the quality of it I don’t think its that badly priced. My mum did manage to pick it up in a charcoal grey a few weeks ago but I have only worn it once so far. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a black one.

Archers and lemonadeimg_3159

I know last month I said that I loved Dooleys toffee vodka and it will always be my favourite, but I have started eating more healthier and I guess I needed to find a healthier alcoholic drink too.  Back in my early twenties this was what tickled my taste buds and after trying one the memories came flooding back. Peach is the only flavour I’ve seen in the actual spirit,  but I remember having raspberry alcopop archers back in the day. It was bloody yum.

Daisy

img_3160

I just had to include daisy in my favourites…Daisy is my niece, she’s a year and a half and she is such a cute one and clever for her age too. We shared some lovely moments this month and I loved it when she sat up to the table in a big chair and had a takeaway with us. She hasn’t quite grasped my name yet so, for the time being, I am Auntie Hoddy.

Journalling

img_3161

I gushed over this journal in my review of the happy journal and I am still in love with it and how it really gets you thinking about what you want and using your creative mind to get planning. Its only been a month but I am pretty sure all the other pages are just as great. If you love writing like me you’ll love it too.

Pinterest

img_3162

Lastly Pinterest, I have always loved using this app for inspiration but then in December it stopped working properly on my phone and laptop and I could only get on it intermittently. I was rather miffed but so I sent an email to the developers. A few weeks went by of them trying to fix it and then I tried it one night and its worked ever since. My Pinterest addiction is back. I would always say to anyone to download the app it has everything you could think of.

Those were my favourite things I hope you enjoyed reading about why they make me smile.
