It’s OK you can look away

Gone are the days where people simply sat down at a desk or a, table and wrote in a book… I mean I still do it but things started to consume our lives….and get in the way.

Making sure your phone is fully charged so you can scroll through the whole of Instagram liking pics of peoples lives instead of creating your own life.

Having your ego boosted by how many likes /loves and whatever Emoji you have. Sure it can make you happy temporarily but is it that important to you. Personally I just share and if I get comments and likes then I do it’s not a goal I aim for like some do.

Sometimes it even gets in the way of relationships. Do you ever think would you be able to spend a week say with your significant other with no social media interaction. You love them more I’d hope to put it aside for the time you spend with them.

Social media isn’t going anywhere soon so do yourself a favour and look away for a bit. Don’t consume this thing we call life by obsessing over someone else’s.

Skincare for spot prone skin

When I did beauty therapy at college 12 years ago I always thought that the products we were using Dermalogica would never be in my price range.

Well it’s great when you spot a bargain, and that I did.

This Breakout clearing kit was £26. I am a sufferer of spots any time of the month so I’d be silly not to try it. The kit includes

  • a breakout clearing foaming wash
  • A breakout clearing booster
  • A skin soothing hydrating lotion.

The headband was a freebie.

This clear start blotting paper keyring is just perfect for on the go oily moments. He was also a freebie ( I’ll get to why at the end)

For when my skin in semi OK I thought this special cleansing gel would be one to alternate from the one in the kit. It was £11.50.

This daily microfoliant is meant to make your skin look radiant. I believe it will just not tried it yet. Its a powder. This was part of the freebie.

OK so you all probably know Toff from I’m a celebrity. She suffers with bad skin and works alongside Dermalogica. So if you spent over £30 and put in the code TOFF then you got some extras.

Not sure how long the offer is on but the freebies are about £20 if you bought them.

Oh this was at the bottom of the box, 4 of them actually. I’m hoping they make my skin perfect like their name.

July Favourites

I must say we had a treat this July with some glorious sunshine so that was a fave. Though it’s lovely now having a bit of breeze.

I have a nice handful of my favourite things I’ve been loving this month to show you, so let’s get into it.

BEAUTY BITS

Oh my goodness I have literally fell in love with this 24 hr moisturiser from Palmers. You can imagine the cocoa makes me smell of chocolate, which is a good thing as I’m a bit of a chocoholic. A little bit goes a long long way. Highly recommend it.

If you suffer with anxiety like me a little lavender essential oil will be your new best friend. I have used a little spray bottle added a few drops of lavender and then filled it up with water. Now I have my homemade anxiety reliever to spray on me, my pillows or in the air around me.

YUMMY BITS

This was part of my childhood and then I saw they still sold them I was so happy. They’ve been my go to snack when I’ve needed that sugar fix.

Oh wow, these tick so many boxes. As a lover of houmous. These chickpea crisps that are sea salt flavour, gluten free, vegan and 40% less fat. To top it off they are 50p at the mo for a big bag 😋

Through being lacking energy lately and then being put on tablets because I’m low on iron I thought I need something that has all the goodness but is still yum and these tea bags from Tetley are just that.

BITS AND BOBS

I have bought / had as a present a few notepads this month and as a stationery addict one can never have too many.

I have wanted to get stuck into a series and then I saw Derry Girls was on my recommendations on Netflix so I’ve watched the first season. The second season is on 4 on demand so I can’t wait to finish watching them all. The girls are balshy, Irish school girls standing up for what they believe. I love the Irish accent and it’s something to get stuck into. I’ll let you know what I think of the second once I’ve binge watched it.

I have really loved Vogues makeup /self care routines with well known celebs and I have always adored Liv Tyler from a young age so watched her self care routine this week. Worth a watch just to get the tips.

Hope you’ve had a fab July

We all need a summer spritz

Some of you may be thinking of an alcoholic drink…

Although that is refreshing, this is going to be better for you.

When it’s rather warm and you need cooling down, you definitely need a facial spray to hand.

They are also soothing and calming as they state. They may not keep you cool for ages but in this heatwave they’ll look after your skin and leave it feeling more hydrated.

Of course there are more on the market but these are the ones I own.

The next post will be my monthly favourites next week.

So I’ll say have a fab weekend and stay sun safe.

A little beauty haul

Well I bought some bits on ASOS the other week only to be disappointed and sent it all back…can’t help having a chunky butt 😂

So with that money I bought some new goodies and here is what arrived for me today.

TWO FACE MASKS

Both soothing in this weather and I thought I could go between the two. I’ve tried the other Garnier clay masks and most peel off 7th heaven ones so I know these will be fab.

A COLOURFUL PALETTE OF 76 EYESHADOWS

If you didn’t know already, I am absolutely shite at doing any eyeshadow apart from a plain lid so I thought that this would be a start and it was under a tenner so if I can’t follow the YouTube tutorials it won’t be a waste of money.

I thought I may as well get some brushes to work with and these were about 7 pounds. I would definitely spend on more expensive ones if I was any good. I was so excited there was a foundation / spooly / eyeliner one too.

ROSE QUARTZ FACIAL ROLLER

I have seen these all over Instagram and YouTube and I finally caved in and got myself one. It is supposed to help the puffiness in your face and help around your eyes too. Let’s hope it gives me a forever young face.

MAYBELLINE ERASER CONCEALER

For those dark circles and the annoying spots I still get at 33 i picked this one. I have high hopes for it. As in the name it says erase. Impurities be gone.

There you have it, I will keep you in the loop on what I think of them as I need to try put some more beauty posts on here.

I miss…

Things that are missing from my life that I wish weren’t.

I miss not being invited out, its nice to he asked even if you don’t feel well enough it’s the thought.

I miss those no longer here anymore, my big brother especially. All I have is photos and memories in my mind.

I miss being able to go out on road trips with my dad. Why did dementia have to take that away?

I miss being able to work and have a bit more of a busier day and something to talk/moan about lol

I miss being able to walk to town, or anywhere for that matter. A little bit around the house is as much as I get to do on good days, the rest is in the wheelchair.

With all of these things missing I always make the best of every day because I just can’t let it get me down, as I’d be no good to anyone.

Its not dwelling, just observing.

Love conquers all

Here’s me a single pringle

(I nearly hate that saying as much as people say ‘off on me holibobs’)

I believe that the right person is out there for everyone. No matter how long you’re waiting.

Whether it’s a man or a woman I really don’t mind as long as I’m loved and I love them in return.

I totally don’t think there should be labels such as straight, gay, bisexual, queer, pansexual and any others I’ve missed. It should just be I’m in love with this person, end of.

Its been a while since I’ve been in a relationship but hopefully someone will see what a fab human being I am and literally sweep me up off my feet.

If you are reading this and are single, please don’t worry. Go with what your heart tells you, you will know when the time is right.
