This valentines day

Valentines Day is the one day of the year when you all declare your love to your other half or a admirer / crush.

It is very hyped up and retailers make things twice as expensive because they know you will spend it if you really want it. People go all slushy on social media and try to out do each other.

I guess this is the first year in ages that I’ve been in a relationship and other years I’ve just been ‘ oh it Valentine’s Day, how many cards will come through my door….zero 🙈

I think that yes it’s lovely to have a special day like we do for Christmas but blink and you miss it

I am a sucker however for a good old love song, so here’s a throwback playlist I found on Spotify

As I’m writing this it’s the day before Valentines. I won’t be seeing my boyfriend til the 15th so I’m going to make Valentines a self love day. So tonight I’m going to get everything ready to grab tomorrow.

This will include things such as

480EBB77-514D-4049-9B0E-80C74AAE57ED

I could go well over the top but it’s just to make me feel good. I don’t know what the plans are when I see the other half. Just seeing him will be enough.

Hope you have a lovely day whatever you decide to do.

❤️

My current reads

I am not one to just stick to one book at a time so at the mo I have 3 that are in my to read pile.

I remember watching this on BBC with Sheridan Smith playing the role of Lisa Lynch. A woman who blogs about her cancer struggles but never let’s it define who she is. It’s been a while since I watched it so when I saw this book on the shelf for £1 I thought I must get this and read it.

I have suffered with anxiety for as long as I have been a teenager. So a very long time. Anything that gives me tips on how to combat it and maybe even get rid of it is worth a try. I know the speakmans do wonderful things with people with severe anxiety, fears and phobias. I am eager to get stuck into this book.

I absolutely love reading words of wisdom from the Dalai Lama online so thought if I can find a book of them then I’d buy it. It was only £3 so it was silly not to get it. Have read a few pages and I feel inspired by his words. You would too I just know it.

What books do you have on the go?

Had a little bit of a break

I’ve been a bit quiet haven’t I?

I had my surgery on Wed 22nd of January and all went well.

I was home 6 days later.

I feel so lucky because if when they opened me up and all was stuck together I’d still be in hospital with more than what I did have done.

Even though I have touched on here about having a stoma bag for my wee I don’t want to talk too much about it as some readers may be grosed out.

So I have just started a 2nd blog that I’ll be posting on once a week talking about living with a bag. Some health tips too.

If you want to be super lovely come and follow me here at www.stomabaglife.co.uk

Don’t worry posts on HOLZIELOVES will still be regular. Just give me a few weeks if it’s slow to build up my stamina of writing again.

Love you all 😘

JANUARY FAVOURITES

What feels like the longest month is nearly over… Its been a roller-coaster one for me with having an op but there have been some lovely things also that have made my January be filled with smiles.

Let’s start with

MY PURPLE SUITCASE

I searched high and low for a suitcase as I needed one for all my worldly goods at the hospital, and just at the last minute I found this one for £30. It’s called a Grant carry on case if you were looking for one too. I know that if I need to spend the night away this beaut will be coming with me.

MUSIC OF THE MONTH

If you like listening to covers of songs then you may like to take a nosey at

Joseph Vincent

This one I’ve picked out is actually his own I believe. He has such a lovely tone to his voice

FOOD I’M LOVING

There were these sitting on a shelf asking to be bought so I couldn’t say no.

I love white chocolate and these didn’t let the side down. Truly delicious. Hopefully I can find them again as they were from a small shop.

FISHCAKE SANDWICH

Whether you like a bap or bread, you got to try mushy peas on the bottom then a fishcake. Chips are optional.

I’ve always loved fishcakes since I was little but never tried this and if I feel like treating myself this will be it.

WORD OF THE MONTH

‘Unstoppable’

The song by Sia gave me the inspiration. I knew I had a tough end to the month, so the lyrics and that word got me through.

BOOK I RECOMMEND

If you love RuPaul or Drag Race you will love this book he bought out.

It’s full of positivity and inspirational quotes like this one for example

I love RuPaul as a person and not just as a performer.

QUOTE OF THE MONTH

This one describes me I guess and I love it when a quote speaks volumes.

What have you enjoyed this month?

QUOTE IT

I like most things with quotes on it as I think it’s really expressive and can say exactly what you are thinking without speaking a word.

Love a good mug so these are a few I’ve picked that stood out to me.

You like making statements with your makeup so why not with a make up bag and a witty quote on it.

The collection here of mugs and makeup bags are positive and quirky. Nothing wrong with plain but standing out in the crowd is loads more fun.

Head over what?

C6F0138B-6AF6-4581-A1F2-14852998CD19When it comes to those things that really mean something in your life, like big things. The ones that you have to make a decision on, depending how you feel.

So do you listen what your head is saying or how it makes your heart feel… here’s my thoughts on it…

Things that are going to impact your life, every aspect of it, of course Thought and consideration comes into play. But it’s really how it makes you feel when you envision yourself already having it.

I know when that thing has made me smile from ear to ear it’s a feeling of happiness and joy.
So I think I believe it’s heart over head. But each person their own look on it I guess.

MY SPOT / BLEMISH EMERGENCY BOX

If you have been a reader of my blog for a while you will know that my skin is prone to spots. I dunno if it’s because I started puberty early but all these years later and I still get these pesky buggers on my face.

So I thought I’m going to make a box for when my skin is bad and then don’t have to hunt for all the products, they’ll all be in one place.

Using an old box from Birchbox and turned it upside down so the names on the bottom and filled it with the following

The Tea Tree anti imperfection daily solution which has a pipette ( like those things you used in chemistry at school) you just apply it to the spots before bed and it will help diminish the redness of them.

The anti imperfection night mask works like a dream. I have been using it this month on my face which chose to have a major break out. I’ve had it for ages and never used it. I can say my spots are nearly gone in 4 days of usage.

I love it when spot treatments come in travel sizes cos you can just put them in your handbag and off you go.

The Sebamed is really good if you need to get the oil on your face and under control. Not used it a great deal but definitely worth getting.

You all know that Dermalogica is a worldwide favourite for skincare and this little beauty is great for when you get hormonal spots, it seems to help them alot.

This Laidbare is similar to the Sebamed  but is more of a cream. It’s specially formulated for oily to combo skin. Use it sparingly and it’ll last a long time.

Sudocrem has to be my absolute favourite for clearing up my spots. I dunno what’s in it but it works wonders and is only a couple of pounds.

I have only just added these patches and nose strips from Patchology to my box and not used them yet but I have read good things about them so I hope it’s true.

Why not make yourself a special box
