Things that make us all happy……


MORE SLEEP

At the end of the day you can’t wait to get in your bed, to get warm, snuggle in and sleep your senses away. Then in the morning you don’t want to get up and snooze god knows how many times. Sleep is great so never deny yourself it. Get as much as you can

MORE MUSIC

I know music makes my day a happy one. A tune that takes you right back and makes your heart sing as well as you singing along. Music is so powerful, whether it’s a song or instrumental.

MORE TEA

It doesn’t have to be Tea. Just your favourite hot beverage that makes everything better for that moment in time. Mines a Options mint hot chocolate. Delicious. Come to think of it, it doesn’t make any difference if it’s a hot or cold drink it’s just one that makes you go mmmmm.

MORE BOOKS

A good book can make you happy and intrigued for hours. Some people just can’t stop buying books and divulging into them. Others just plod on through one but are equally as thrilled with the book.

MORE SUNSETS

When there’s better weather, a beautiful sunset makes you go wow and it’s so pretty to look at, until the sky goes black. Appreciating all the beauty of it. Then it’s a while til you see something so picturesque again. So if you can, get your camera out.

MORE CREATING

whatever form of creativity makes you happy, do it. Whether it’s writing, drawing, art and crafts or creating something on a bigger scale. Personally myself I like to dabble in a bit of all sorts.

MORE LONG WALKS

 

Going on a walk, either on your own, with a friend or a lover…or even in a group is really enjoyable if you have a lovely destination at the end of it and obviously the company makes it worth its while too.

MORE LAUGHTER

I will forever say this…Laughter is the best medicine, and the best form of therapy.  You won’t ever feel unhappy after laughing and that’s why i think it’s such a magical thing.

MORE HUGS

Giving someone a hug is a gift that can mean so much in a time of need, and can definitely turn a frown upside down. Most people love a hug. There is the few that aren’t fans.

 

MORE DREAMING

I don’t mean those dreams you have in your sleep that are all higgledy piggledy and don’t make sense at all. I’m on about the ones you want to become a reality. The ones you can work towards to make you happy as Larry. Keep dreaming and make them as big as you like.

MORE ROAD TRIPS

Nothing beats a road trip, with the best playlist and a friend who lets you forget all your worries and sing like a cat pissing in a biscuit tin. You don’t have to do them all the time but every once in a while if someone asks you, go. You’ll be smiling there and back for sure

MORE FUN

Fun can be anything you want it to be and as long as it’s making you happy and it’s not illegal, carry on having as much of it as you can. Fit some fun into your day and wear that grin with pride.

MORE LOVE

Love comes in all shapes and sizes and you can love a person, place or a thing.  The world needs more love and I tell you when you feel loved it’s a wonderful feeling. Love with your head and heart, body and soul.

Valentines Day is the one day of the year when you all declare your love to your other half or a admirer / crush.

It is very hyped up and retailers make things twice as expensive because they know you will spend it if you really want it. People go all slushy on social media and try to out do each other.

I guess this is the first year in ages that I’ve been in a relationship and other years I’ve just been ‘ oh it Valentine’s Day, how many cards will come through my door….zero 🙈

I think that yes it’s lovely to have a special day like we do for Christmas but blink and you miss it

I am a sucker however for a good old love song, so here’s a throwback playlist I found on Spotify

As I’m writing this it’s the day before Valentines. I won’t be seeing my boyfriend til the 15th so I’m going to make Valentines a self love day. So tonight I’m going to get everything ready to grab tomorrow.

I could go well over the top but it’s just to make me feel good. I don’t know what the plans are when I see the other half. Just seeing him will be enough.

JANUARY FAVOURITES

What feels like the longest month is nearly over… Its been a roller-coaster one for me with having an op but there have been some lovely things also that have made my January be filled with smiles.

Let’s start with

MY PURPLE SUITCASE

I searched high and low for a suitcase as I needed one for all my worldly goods at the hospital, and just at the last minute I found this one for £30. It’s called a Grant carry on case if you were looking for one too. I know that if I need to spend the night away this beaut will be coming with me.

FOOD I’M LOVING

There were these sitting on a shelf asking to be bought so I couldn’t say no.

I love white chocolate and these didn’t let the side down. Truly delicious. Hopefully I can find them again as they were from a small shop.

FISHCAKE SANDWICH

Whether you like a bap or bread, you got to try mushy peas on the bottom then a fishcake. Chips are optional.

I’ve always loved fishcakes since I was little but never tried this and if I feel like treating myself this will be it.

WORD OF THE MONTH

‘Unstoppable’

The song by Sia gave me the inspiration. I knew I had a tough end to the month, so the lyrics and that word got me through.

BOOK I RECOMMEND

If you love RuPaul or Drag Race you will love this book he bought out.

I like most things with quotes on it as I think it’s really expressive and can say exactly what you are thinking without speaking a word.

Love a good mug so these are a few I’ve picked that stood out to me.

 So do you listen what your head is saying or how it makes your heart feel… here’s my thoughts on it…

Things that are going to impact your life, every aspect of it, of course Thought and consideration comes into play. But it’s really how it makes you feel when you envision yourself already having it.

I know when that thing has made me smile from ear to ear it’s a feeling of happiness and joy.
So I think I believe it’s heart over head. But each person their own look on it I guess.

 

CHANGES THAT WILL IMPROVE YOUR MENTAL HEALTH

Here are a few tips to help start changing your mental health for the better

  • Unfollow unhealthy social media accounts
  • Limit the time you spend on social media
  • End toxic friendships and relationships
  • Get rid of negative people
  • Prioritise your social circle
  • Make meditation part of a daily routine
  • Dedicate 30mins a day to just relax
  • Put your phone to one side at bedtime
  • Write in a journal
  • Practice mindfulness
  • Choose to think positively
  • Dress more colourfully
  • Do some yoga or pilates
  • Drink more water
  • Let light in when you get up
