Blogmas Day 1: Favourite Childhood Christmas Memories

I do love a trip down old memory lane and i thought i would take you along this time as we look at what christmas memories i can still remember.

I grew up living with my brother so most will include him

  • Mum going shopping and coming back with big bags to send off to Father Christmas.Craig and me go hunting in the wardrobe, seeing one that hadn’t been wrapped and he goes to me ‘ooo look what you got for Christmas’. Well he got a pleasant surprise when he opened it and he goes ‘Mum i think i got hollys present’…’nope its yours’ ha ha 😂

  •  It was the Christmas party at my brothers judo club and of course little sisters were invited. We were told Father Christmas was going to make an appearance and sure enough he did. I was only 7 and highly excited- ‘look Craig it’s Father Christmas’. He looked at me laughing and said ‘unless he has the same tattoos as Dad i don’t think so Hol’  After that I didn’t believe in him and at the tender age of 7 that was the last letter I sent off to the North Pole.

  • Christmas morning I would be up First about 5am look at the bottom of my bed and see if my fluffy pillowcase had been filled up. I ran into my brothers room shouting ‘He’s been he’s been.’…. ‘Go away… wake me up in a few hours’ . Don’t you just love your siblings.

  • Christmas tree used to go up on the 20th December and mum used to put Cadburys chocolates on there and said on Christmas morning we could eat them. 90% of them had gone by then and nobody owned up who had been picking I think everyone had a sneaky bite.

Here’s a few Christmas pics I found on my laptop.

The first one was new bikes one Christmas and the second one was when I was eager to hoover 😉 different story now.

Thanks for joining me for my first post come back tomoro for more.

My November Favourites

I thought I would do a round up of some of my favourite things I’ve enjoyed throughout the month of November and a few new purchases too.

1) I am pretty sure I’m not the only one that gets super excited when they buy a diary/planner for the year ahead. The annoying thing is can’t write in it til Jan 1st as it’s supposed to be bad luck. This year I have chosen The Bright side ‘Being this brilliant takes planning’ diary 2017. It’s got some real witty bits in it that I will share in a later post

2) Every Winter I try and treat myself to a new coat and this year I wanted to go for one that was warm and stood out and this leopard print faux fur coat doesn’t disappoint in my books. It was £45 from Tesco and I can’t wait for the rain to stop so I can make good use of it.

 3) When I saw this in Boots on offer and it was my nannys name…Dot. I thought If this smells good this is my Christmas present to myself. Luckily it smelt devine so you guessed it, it’s now mine. Thanks Marc Jacobs for making it look so pretty too.

 4) Some of you may be too young to remember who the Golden Girls are. Here in the U.K. they used to air it about 10-15 years ago then was never seen again. Luckily Amazon had the box set. Mums bought it for me as I’ve been quite poorly as of late I’m so thankful. My evenings won’t ever be boring again.

5) I love these lyrics and this is a quote that can be shared to anyone who you think needs a bit of a helping hand and needs a friend.

6) Finally a new find but an old love. The one and only Lady Gaga. I thought she was ever so quirky growing up and this album she’s just bought out shows she’s still got it ‘Joanne’. She named it after her nan which I think is lovely.

Hope you enjoyed reading about what’s got me smiling this month

See you in a future post…much love xxx

The Blogger Tag

Hello! And thank you for taking the opportunity to find out about The Blogger Tag.  To start things off, I have answered the below questions and have then tagged some fellow bloggers to join in and answer the same questions on their blog.

The aim of the game, to get to know each other as bloggers a bit better. A how better than with some right nosy (but not that nosy!) questions! Thanks to who tagged me.

Here are my answers..

Question 1: How tall are you?

I am between 5 ft 3 and 5ft 4…..but officially stopped growing

Question 2: Do you have a hidden talent? If so, what?

Apart from playing the recorder with my nose, not tried in years I can write a poem about anything quite quickly. Always loved writing since I could write I guess.

Question 3: What’s your biggest blog-related pet peeve?

When you get an automated message that has been sent to goodness knows how many others and not personally written just for you.

Question 4: What’s your biggest non-blog related pet peeve?

Ooo when people make chamming noises when they are eating I just give them the look.

Question 5: What’s your favourite song?

When the song was number 1 for 16 weeks I must have been about 6/7 and I heard the song continuously Bryan Adams: Everything I do I do it for you. Now I am older I appreciate the lyrics

Question 6: What’s your favourite social media website?

If you asked me a year ago I would of said Facebook as it was where my friends were most active. Since I started my blog in June this year I have been in love with twitter, the blogging community on there is amazing and the chats you get to join in to and get to know fellow bloggers that soon become your friends too.

Question 7: What’s your favourite way to spend your free time when you’re alone?

I would have to say either writing in my journal or having a bit of a binge watch on either Netflix or Youtube both are rather addictive and occasionally if I am feeling confident enough I will film and upload a video.

Question 8: What’s your favourite junk food?

Diam Bars. Although I am on a diet at the moment if someone handed me one I would not let it melt away in my bag. A chocolate bar like that should be appreciated and enjoyed.

Question 9: Do you have a pet or pets? If so, what kind and what are their names?

I have only had a hamster as my mum has asthma so I was being considerate of her, his name was Marley he was a black dwarfy that soon turned grey..,lasted nearly two years and used to go like stink on his wheel all night it was fascinating to watch when I couldn’t sleep.

Question 10: What are your number one favourite nonfiction / fiction books?

Without a doubt it would be The Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S Lewis. I find it so magical and the way that C.S Lewis has wrote it makes it enjoyable to read at any age. I always wish my wardrobe had snow in the back and went to Narnia and Aslan the Lion was there.

Question 11: What’s your favourite beauty product or tool?

I am so in awe of the Collection lasting perfection 16hr concealer. For a mere price of £4.19 it works miracles on my black bags.

Question 12: When were you last embarrassed? What happened?

Probably when I was in hospital and there was a really fit doctor doing the rounds, there was me looking my worst and I turned round and said luckily I don’t always look like this…face in palm moment.

Question 13: If you could only drink one beverage (besides water) for the rest of your life, what would it be?

I would say cranberry and raspberry squash its absolutely delicious I know it’s a weird one but least its semi good for me.

Question 14: What’s your favourite movie?

Bridget jones hands down…

  • Its quotable as anything: wanton sex goddess with a very bad man between her thighs.
  •  The eye candy is second to none. I know both Colin and Hugh have aged but still
  • Bridget shows its ok to wear big pants and be sexy ha ha.

Question 15: What was your favourite lesson in school and why?

I would have to say science, though I couldn’t understand it and only scrapped through it in my GCSE’s I liked the teacher I had in each year they were pleasing on the eye but I was forever getting sent out of class for talking so was never in their good books.

Question 16: If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?

Italy for sure, it has so much culture to it, its beautiful and the language is actually quite nice to listen to, if only I understood what they were saying.

I have a HP laptop always been with Microsoft with my laptops as I find I know what I am doing. I do however have an iPhone and iPad so I am keeping Microsoft and apple both happy.

Question 18: Last romantic gesture from a crush, date, boy/girlfriend, spouse? (or kind gesture from a friend)

I was bought a necklace from a admirer it was called forever and it was pink, I sometimes wear it. Mostly I like to look at it and smile

 Question 19: Favourite celebrity?

There is so many to chose from but I really do love Meryl Streep.

  • She has featured in some amazing films.
  • She has sass without being cocky about it
  • and for her age she looks pretty damn good.

I want to be friends with all the bloggers I have come across I could simply not choose one person. Each and every person i come across while reading their posts if they make me smile they are doing a good job

I would say myself and I am sorry If that sounds odd, when I look back and see how far I have come it spurs me on to do more.

Question 22: What is your favourite blog to read?

A blog that has thought put into it and not just full of pictures or a few words. I like it when a blog leaves me wanting to see what they write next time.

Question 23: What is your favourite high street shop?

Good old Primark. The one I go to is huge and you can literally lose yourself in there for few hours. I have lost myself in there before and had to phone my friend to find out where she was

Question 24: Are you in education or do you work?

I finished my education 3 years ago. I am a trained beauty and massage therapist, rubbish at experimenting with eyeshadows though. Not currently working at the mo just enjoying writing and doing my blogging.

My October likes

As I turn over the calendar to October I can’t help but get a little bit excited.

My Mum and Dad decided to have me in this month, the funny story is… 31 years ago when mum pushed me out they said Well done you’ve had a girl…mum said are you sure? Positive. There are no dangly bits. She was convinced I was going to be Ryan and not Holly.

So yeah as old as I am I still enjoy celebrating my birthday and counting down the days secretly ( childish I know ) 🙊

I adore the autumn time, you get to wrap up in your winter warmers early and go out for walks with such pretty scenery and crunchy leaves

This is my favourite item of clothing at the mo a Primark special £10 baby pink turtleneck…super soft to touch too.

This was the other Sunday afternoon walking off our roast. So lucky in England to have the occasional beautiful day that’s me being sarcastic. Got my phone out and clicked away.

I started Slimming World halfway through October and managed to get slimmer of the week last week. I was so gobsmacked. But happy of course.

This is my favourite find this month on Pinterest it symbolises me as I walk around the house looking very similar 😜

Let’s see what November brings xxx

Stages of a relationship (in pictures)

You look at each other and instantly fireworks spark, you have butterflies and yeah you’re in there hook line and sinker.

On the date your true colours shine through and they think your something kinda special.

Life is peachy and you can’t get enough of being with each other. Affection overload. Maybe the L word might slip out.

Then one day they say they will be round to pick you up and you are at the window looking like an idiot cos they stood you up

The where are you call turns into ‘ i don’t think this is working it’s not me it’s you…no I mean it’s not you it’s me’

Of course tears will be shed they were the reason you smiled, the adventures you had, just them made you feel like nobody else could.
Soon enough you see them walking around with someone new, they downgraded and you can’t help but giggle to yourself.

As one door closes another one opens and guess what you will be head over heels with someone else

and your face with your friend will be just like this…..

September Favourites

As September ends it’s time to reflect on the things the past month has bought me happiness so here goes…

Goodbye flip flops Hello Boots

I found 3 out of the 4 boots below in the charity shop. The most expensive being £7.99 and I am absolutely awful at walking in heels so when I spotted the wedges my eyes lit up. The third pair down are from Deichman and were £19.99. They are a replacement from last years. Yes I also love suede if you hadn’t guessed.

Primark Autumnal wear

I generally just wear black, pink or leopard print but I thought I would switch it up a gear and go for some different colours. First is this Burgundy cut out on the shoulder cropped jumper I usually put a little black strappy top on underneath so I am not baring no skin.

Next is this khaki coloured quite basic long sleeved ribbed top with a bit of lacing done along the chest area which gives it a bit of an edge. Both of these tops were £8 and I team them up with the skinnys below.

High waisted skinny jeans £13 each pair and they have stretch in them too which allows a bit of what you fancy and still have moving roomdsc01594dsc01595dsc01596

A few beauty bits

Below we have :

  1. Loreal Glam Shine 6hrs in Fresh Fushia
  2. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Amethyst Shell
  3. Lush Grease lightning spot treatment
  4. Avon Gentle Aloe light cream
  5. Pink mini tweezermans

Latest books on the bookshelf

  1. Freddie Mercury Biography
  2. IT by Alexa Chung
  3. Yes Please by Amy Poehler
  4. Wrinkles, Wit and Wisdom by Rosemarie Jarski

Finally my Favourite quote for the month

One of the best face masks yet

montagne-jeunesse-7th-heaven-black-seaweed-peel-off-mask-reviewEvery Sunday night i like to give my face a bit of TLC and whilst out shopping in the week i spotted this Black Seaweed Peel Off Mask. At the grand price of 95p in wilkos i thought why not give it a try.

Applying it was a dream no mess apart from a few drips in the sink that was easily washed away with water. i kept it on during my bath, though singing with it on felt a tad weird but it coudnt be helped 🙂

i find peeling a face mask off so satisfying and more so when i had the results underneath. My face felt so smooth so no need for the usual moisturising and my face was glowing lovely.

I love the 7th Heaven Range i grab a variety of them each time i see them in the shop. Wilkinsons and Boots do them i know .

By far the best face mask yet and for under a pound you can’t go wrong.
