What are you writing about?

From when you were small and you learnt to write your name….

Little did you know that you would be writing your whole life.

Though we all use writing differently.

If you are reading my blog and you blog too then you have a talent with your writing, or if you are an author I take my hat off to you too.

These 3 books play an important role in my life.

This is my journal where I write down whatever comes into my head I think is worth writing down and looking back at.

This one is where I see all the self care tips and those hacks and such like I put them in here so I know when I need some encouragement it’s in here.

Finally this is where I write all my ideas for blog ideas and of course my future book when I get round to writing it.

I write pretty much all the time as I adore it so much.

Head in a book

Once i get stuck into a good book there’s no pulling me away from it. I don’t tend to read loads of books simply because…The problem is trying to get stuck in to one in the first place.

So i guess i wanna try set myself a goal of reading 1 self help book a month and one that will entertain me or have me weeping.

So here is my first two

Has an interesting title. Lets hope its a good read.

I know Louise Hay books are loved the world over so i look forward to hopefully falling in love with it too.

In a months time I’ll let you know how i got on and will give a little review too.

Give me a kick up the bum, i need it.

Chase your dreams

you are sat there and a Eureka moment happens, or you wake up and have the most wonderful idea running through your mind at a thousand miles an hour.

Quick, grab a pen and paper and get it down on there before it vanishes into thin air.

Put down as much detail as you can about your dream and plan on making it a reality. You know dreams don’t come true if you don’t put in a little effort. If only it was that easy

I am working towards one of my dreams right now. I am writing my second book. I already wrote one about my bullying at school/ a few years after. This time it’s going to be a poetry book as I absolutely love words with meaning. It’s going to be relatable to almost everyone hopefully. I am in the planning process so will keep you updated as I work towards achieving my dream.

Don’t let them pass you by. Your dream was given to you for a reason.

Of course, if they were bad dreams please don’t chase those, let them bugger off into nothingness. Only the good ones deserve your time.

In Gabrielle’s words….dreams can come true

My January Favourites

As you know if you have seen any of my other favourites I am very random in what I pick. Its generally what has brought me joy that month.

January has been a funny one in the way that it feels like it has gone on forever but in reality its exactly the same and today is its last day.

So here are a few favourites from the first month of 2018

Paper planes

I have heard this song so many times on the radio I can’t help but sing along and I think that Hoseah Partch has such a wonderful tone to his voice and I look forward to listening to more of his songs.

Learning a new language

img_3158

Every year for the last two or three years I have had on my list of things to do is learn a new language and I have always chosen Italian,  because I think its a passionate language – but I never got too far when trying to speak it. So there is a story behind why I want to learn welsh. My mum is half welsh and we have family in Wales so I thought it made more sense. Plus I hope to go there this year or next, so maybe could show off a bit. ha ha. I’m not too far in on Duolingo (which is a free app with loads of languages to choose from) I love Bora da which is good morning and nos da which is goodnight. I’ll keep you updated on my progress – I will stick to it.

Green pinaforeimg_3157

I have this one dress that I wish they did in every colour as I love the style of it and it fits just right. I did size up to a 12 as I have an hourglass figure. It’s from Primark in a green suede for £10 which for the quality of it I don’t think its that badly priced. My mum did manage to pick it up in a charcoal grey a few weeks ago but I have only worn it once so far. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a black one.

Archers and lemonadeimg_3159

I know last month I said that I loved Dooleys toffee vodka and it will always be my favourite, but I have started eating more healthier and I guess I needed to find a healthier alcoholic drink too.  Back in my early twenties this was what tickled my taste buds and after trying one the memories came flooding back. Peach is the only flavour I’ve seen in the actual spirit,  but I remember having raspberry alcopop archers back in the day. It was bloody yum.

Daisy

img_3160

I just had to include daisy in my favourites…Daisy is my niece, she’s a year and a half and she is such a cute one and clever for her age too. We shared some lovely moments this month and I loved it when she sat up to the table in a big chair and had a takeaway with us. She hasn’t quite grasped my name yet so, for the time being, I am Auntie Hoddy.

Journalling

img_3161

I gushed over this journal in my review of the happy journal and I am still in love with it and how it really gets you thinking about what you want and using your creative mind to get planning. Its only been a month but I am pretty sure all the other pages are just as great. If you love writing like me you’ll love it too.

Pinterest

img_3162

Lastly Pinterest, I have always loved using this app for inspiration but then in December it stopped working properly on my phone and laptop and I could only get on it intermittently. I was rather miffed but so I sent an email to the developers. A few weeks went by of them trying to fix it and then I tried it one night and its worked ever since. My Pinterest addiction is back. I would always say to anyone to download the app it has everything you could think of.

Those were my favourite things I hope you enjoyed reading about why they make me smile.

Happy The Journal – My First Impression

I am so over the moon with this fabulous journal I had for Christmas from my brother…

The bro did good. More like his girlfriend did.

s-l300

So if you haven’t seen or heard of it before it is one of Fearne Cottons creations that she has put together of positive thinking in a journal type way. It is really quite clever and different. I haven’t seen one like it before.

I thought I would give you a first impression of what I think of it and a peek inside of it too.

This is my first page…It gives you a whole page to write down your wishes for the year ahead but instead of putting ‘I want’,  you write it as if it has actually has happened so in mine you can see my positive points. I came up with 10. It took me about half an hour to wrack my brains to come up with some good ones.

Throughout the journal you will see these quotes which are not only positive but powerful too. I always get that instant boost when I read a good quote.

Heres an idea if you don’t always have your book to hand you could copy the quotes down into the notes section on your phone and when you need that bit of positivity you have it right there.

Skipping to February – Each month has a theme and you probably can guess from the prompts above that Feb is Love. Even if you aren’t in a relationship they are still relatable as most of this book is pointed towards self-love and improving your life.

At the end of each day you will have a face with no mouth… here you can put how your mood was on that day and then when you flip back through its a reminder of how you felt on that day.

As you can see the pages are a bright array of pastel colours but unfortunately its a cold and miserable day with little sunlight so I just had to adjust mine to look semi-decent.

You can buy this Journal in pretty much every bookstore there is worldwide. It’s also kind to your purse too just over a tenner and has so many pages of content its well worth spending your pennies on.

If you like writing/journaling and a bit of self-development then this is going to be just the book for you.

Thanks for stopping by

Until next time…

Things I loved in December

As we come to the end of the year it brings me to that time of the month where i reflect on a few things that I’ve been loving in December.

Without further ado, let’s get started…

Paloma Faith – Guilty

You know one of those songs you hear and you like it so much you play it all the bloody time…this is one of them, I absolutely love it.

The funny thing is for years I have been calling her PAMOLA.

Surely I cant be the only one that has made that mistake.

The little big things by Henry Fraser

After seeing Henry on Jonathan Ross telling his very inspirational story and seeing what amazing talent he had after breaking his spinal cord and is now paralysed from the shoulder down it definitely pulled on my heartstrings.

To hear he had a memoir out with his story and copies of his art on some of the pages inside had me wanting to go buy it and then when I saw it was half price in WHSMITH for £6.49 I leapt at the chance. Its a must have.

Gremlins

When it comes to Christmas films I tend to go for the really old ones and Amazon Prime came to the rescue with one of my childhood favourites – The Gremlins.

It had me still cringing at the point when they go from cute ones like Gizmo and then transform into the torturous gremlins. I am not one for scary films so i still went to bed leaving a light on. Then my nephew came over and we had to watch it all over again. This gif below is one of my favourite parts where they are tricking Mrs Deagal to then send her full pelt out the window on her stairlift.

Thank goodness they aren’t actually real.

Dooleys

Dooleys_Toffee

This will always be my favourite tipple and this month has been an excuse to have a little bit more. This is the only thing alcoholic i drink actually as it doesn’t seem to affect me too much. If you are ever going to sample it a few cubes of ice is my recommendation.

If you have a sweet tooth you’ll possibly like a drop of Dooleys.

Lastly…

Spending time with my family goes without saying really…

I am so lucky that my family all live pretty near so ts never long before we see each other. There’s always laughter and that to me is the best medicine there is.

Hope you all had a great Christmas, here’s to a fab new year.

Let’s see what favourites January brings…

5 SELF HELP BOOKS TO START OFF YOUR NEW YEAR POSITIVELY

Self-help books aren’t for everyone but I am definitely one that loves a bit of guidance and because this year for me has been a bit crappy I am going into next year with a positive mind and positive outlook on things.

These 5 books are going to be my holy grails and I will be using them daily. In the past I haven’t been much of a bookworm but things change.

LITTLE BOOK OF CONFIDENCE BY SUSAN JEFFERS

I bought this book a couple of years ago and when sorting out my book box there it was at the bottom. Its no bigger than a pack of cards so no matter how small your bag is you can easily fit it in there for when you need that boost of confidence.

A THOUSAND PATHS TO MINDFULNESS BY LIZ DEAN

My friend was telling me about mindfulness back along and i thought she was talking a load of twoddle and she gave me this book to keep and said you wont want to leave home without it. So when i went into hospital one of the activities other than therapy was mindfulness and i got to learn what its all about. It really helps the stress levels and focusing on the here and now.

img_2513

START WHERE YOU ARE BY MEERA LEE PATEL

I started this about a year ago and then put it to one side and didn’t follow on with it but now i’m in the right head space i have put it with my books to work on this year coming. It has allsorts of questions about you as a person on whats important to you and where you want to be. I think its fab and look forward to completing it.

img_2514

DO YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE BY MEGAN KAYE

This one is quite new to me but i have had a flip through it and done a few of the quizzes. It is full of things to do in there to discover the real you. I believe i got this from Amazon or maybe it was The Works. Either way i highly reccommend buying one.

365 DAYS OF POSITIVE THINKING BY JENNY KELLETT

I just downloaded this book onto my kindle and it was free so that was the added extra. I have decided that I will start it on Jan 1st as it has a page a day for the whole year. There isn’t much on each page but just enough to give you enough positivity and pause for thought. I’m really looking forward to putting this one into my daily routine.

Let me know if you have any Self-help books that you think would be worth reading.
