My Anxiety Tips

4

If you aren’t a regular reader here you won’t know my anxiety history. I’ll leave my story of how it started here incase you want to have a nosey.

Let’s just say I’ve had it for going on 2 decades and I’ve picked up some helpful coping strategies.

❤️ When you feel an anxiety attack coming on, try and get out into the fresh air and sit down if possible. I get hot and lightheaded in an attack so fresh air and somewhere to perch my bum is much needed.

❤️ The main thing is to concentrate on your breathing to try bring it back to normal. So breath in for 4, hold for 7 and let out for 8. I thought oh my goodness I can’t breath in for that long. But it really does work.

♥️ I have always found music to be the perfect distraction when I’m anxious. In particular I like soft music like acoustic or love songs. Songs that have great lyrics you can focus on. I also love listening to a crackling fire on the relaxing sounds app. Alternatively if you want loud music to try drown out the anxious thoughts that helps too in my opinion.

♥️ You’ve all heard of the grounding tip of things you can see etc using all your senses. Well I’ve come up with this one.

In your bag have something that has a scent that makes you happy like your fave perfume or cologne. I do love lavender too so some essential oils are really handy too.

Have your happy photos on your phone in a folder easily accessible so you can look at them to bring your emotions back to not being stressed out.

Your phone will come for the next two senses which is listen – so it could be the music I mentioned, or some affirmations that you can pre record to remind yourself that everything is going to be ok.

Your mouth without a doubt will be dry in an anxiety attack so popping your favourite sweet in will definitely calm you down, tried and tested by me.

Last sense is touch. There are so many stress relievers out there on ebay/ wish / amazon. Having that at hand in your bag will come in so handy if that’s all you can manage to get during your attack.

♥️ Reach out and ask for help or just message/call someone you trust and say help me take my mind off things, distract me, make me laugh. Pretty sure you have one person you can turn to.

I really could go on and on and on but I think I’ll leave it there.

I’m always here for any of you if you feel the need to chat.

Hope this has been of some help.

Ways to stay organised

1

I never used to be organised, I would just shove stuff in a drawer or at the bottom of the wardrobe until I couldn’t fit anything else in then it was a case of having to sort it out. But as I have matured a bit over the years I think that nothing is worse than living in chaos.

So I have come up with some things that I like to keep on top of to make me feel like I have my shit together.

❤️Organise closet/cupboard/wardrobe wherever you put your clothes. I find putting them in sections of colour is gonna so when you are feeling red for example you can go to your red items and take your pick. Alternatively you can have one end for best and the other end for casual

❤️Making time for a Morning/evening routine. You don’t need a long list of things just some essentials that will make your day/night easier

❤️Sort apps on phone into folders -it’ll keep it looking tidy and you’ll know where all the necessary ones are

❤️Use a notepad or planner to make the most out of your day, with to do lists, meal plans, places to go and people to see.

❤️Delete unwanted photos/messages/numbers on your phone to free up space.

❤️If you can clean as you go, if not allocate some time in your day to do it instead of letting it all mount up. Delegate your load with others in the house if you don’t live alone.

❤️Keep tabs on your spending so you can see what you are getting that you need and can be justified as a reasonable buy and those that aren’t need to be cut back so you’ll have some savings for a rainy day.

❤️Keep your bedroom as spotless as you can as this is for relaxing and unwinding.

❤️Declutter anything that serves you no purpose anymore ( I’ll do another post on this soon. )

❤️Pack bag, food and outfit for the next day the night before do you won’t be faffing about in the morning.

I hope you can use these in your daily life to make it less stressful

Diaries Vs Bullet Journals

7

I thought I would do something a little bit different and do a comparison kind of post.

It’s coming to the end of the year in just under 6 weeks. We can say Happy 2019 and good riddance to the year you’ve just had. Unless of course it was one of your best years of your life then cherish every moment.

Most of you reading this will no doubt have some way of recording your creative moments you do, whether it’s blogging, any clubs you belong to, or the things that bring you joy such as meeting with friends or family and doing exciting stuff.

In this day and age it’s generally a diary and bullet journal that people turn to and I wanted to talk about the things I think set them apart from each other.

DIARY

  • A diary comes in a few forms, one that’s already got the pages organised for you in 7 days (a week obviously). Some a page a day if you have a lot to write and jot notes or doodle on the side. Then finally there’s the one that has the times from morning til night if you are one that plans by the hour.
  • You can write how the days gone in a diary and flip back at a later date to remind you what happened on a certain day. I have a fair few of these in my loft.
  • They come in array of sizes and usually you can search online and type in whatever style or colour cover you want and it’s doable. Some pricier then others depending where you buy it from

BULLET JOURNAL

  • When you decide to bullet journal there are endless things you can put in there from a weekly spread where you have a key method of symbols to show whether it’s been completed, migrated or not done etc. You can make it your own key you don’t need to follow the way the inventor did, make it your own.
  • It’s more of a tracker compared to a diary, you can make pages decorative and for instance track what series you are watching and how far along you are. What books you’ve read, giving them stars for how good/bad they were. A habit tracker, your favourite quotes, literally anything your heart desires.
  • Usually you would get either a plain hardback book or one with dots in or if you are going to be doing more writing than drawing then a feint lined one would be great also. The one people swear by is the make Leuchttrum 1917 simply because it’s such excellent quality.

Personally I gave bullet journaling a go and it didn’t work for me I couldn’t get my creative juices going at the time so a diary it’s been for the last two years. It’s not to say I won’t ever do a bullet journal but it’s just not for me right now.

Which one would you pick for your creative needs?

LISTEN UP #6 – HOW TO GET A BETTER NIGHTS SLEEP

0

I totally forgot on Wednesday to let you know that I’d uploaded my newest episode on my podcast.

I don’t know how many of you are listening but i thought it’s good to keep you up to date if you are.

So here are the links you can click on to listen.

This week its 20 TIPS ON HOW TO GET A BETTER NIGHTS SLEEP

Or here

I only have 2 more episodes left until the new year. I need to get planning for some new material.

Just a wee update from a forgetful me 🙈

20 things you need to start doing

10

This is not a list of how to simplify your life it’s more of a how to make the best of a day and make it go more your way.

I’ve come up with 20 things I think will help you each day to have a great one so let’s get into them ( grab a pen and some paper ) feel free to copy and paste into a word document or your notes for future reference.

  1. Make your bed as soon as you get up, it’ll make your room look more put together and you won’t want to hop back in – (resist temptation)
  2. A glass of water first then tea or coffee. The water is kinder on your kidneys first thing and it’s an easy way to get fluid into you quickly.
  3. Set yourself 10 minutes each day to just be – whether you meditating, praying or journaling what comes to mind.
  4. Have a quick browse of the news on whatever app you get it from so you know what others are on about should it come up in conversation
  5. Wear something that makes you feel like you’re ready to conquer the world. Confidence will ooze out of you.
  6. Listen to uplifting music/podcasts that will get you in the mood for the day or whatever’s activities you have planned.
  7. Smile at least 2 people each day, you never know who’s day you will have made. If you don’t see anyone, walk past the mirror twice and smile.
  8. Look in the mirror and love at least one thing about yourself, the next day find something else you like about yourself. Self reflection will become self love.
  9. Call or message someone you love. It’s a wonderful feeling receiving it but you’ll feel a sense of warmth and happiness doing it in return.
  10. Eat food that makes you feel good. If you are on a diet give yourself a treat day/moment. Never deny something that makes you feel good.
  11. Make lists of things you need to accomplish for the day. Cut them down into small doable tasks and tackle them one by one.
  12. Stretch it out. Whether it’s doing a spot of yoga or pilates or just led on the floor or your bed stretching out each part of your body will leave you with less tension.
  13. Have a place on your phone where you store positive quotes that you can add to and go to when you are in need of that pick me up.
  14. Carry water with you and a healthy snack. Your body need nourishment throughout the day it can’t live on unhealthy things alone.
  15. shut your phone off for an hour and have some me time. It won’t harm you to just put your phone out of reach and be technology free. It’ll all still be there after.
  16. Take a hot shower/ bath after a stressful day. Everyone deserves time to unwind and have a relaxing soak. Leave those problems outside the bathroom door.
  17. Make some plans to do something with someone at least once a week. We all deserve a social life no matter how hectic life is. Make some memories.
  18. Think of 3 things you are grateful for each day. These things are what some people may yearn for so think yourself lucky for all you have.
  19. Before you go to sleep ( 30 mins before ) dim the lights, find something relaxing to do that doesn’t involve your phone/ tv. You need to get your body ready to rest.
  20. Sleep naked whenever you can – Believe me, it will give your body time to breathe after being cooped up in clothes all day.

Let me know which one is your favourite.

See you tomorrow and Happy Monday

Aunt Flo Essentials

0

Every second human will experience the lovely gift we get monthly, that is aunt flo – i am seriously being sarcastic. I dread mine every time… since the age of 11. Early starter i know.

Since i am due mine any day now i thought i would do a post of all the essentials i think are needed to get you through the week from hell.

Depending on how heavy your period is and your preference of protection I’ve included the ones that will get you through every stage of it. I do think that they should be free for all as not every one can afford them. Especially if there is alot in their family or their country is poor/ do not have them readily available.

I remember having mine for nearly a year as the injection buggered up my cycle and i can’t believe how much i spent on them.

If you get pain not just targeted to your tummy then any of these will help – with the headaches, the backache and any other pain that presents itself.

Of course not everyone likes taking pain relief in the form of tablets. So heat pads come in handy when you are on the go and last from 8-12 hours. A hot water bottle is great for when you are curled up on the sofa or in bed. Wheat heat pads are for mild pain and are microwavable.

Due to your cravings leading up to and on your period days a nice selection of chocolate will do the job. Your horemones are here there and everywhere so a good tearjerker of a film is always a must with a big box of tissues.

Thanks for stopping by, if your a woman i sympathise with you. If your a man cut us some slack.

It’s personal to me

2

I don’t know about you but I just love having things that nobody else has kind of bespoke. One of a kind. A few things I am featuring today are just that.

I will start off with my laptop it’s a ASUS 2-1 with stylus you can find it on PC World and I love it it’s small and just enough for me to put well anywhere I like. I have had it for a few months and thought I need to jazz it up a bit so I got some sticker paper and searched for the things that I love from google images which as you can see are Spotify, Netflix, WordPress, Twitter, My Blog and Wi-fi. Of course it had to be pink cos that’s just me.

Next is a Name Necklace that I was kindly sent from Ineffabless. I have a nice little collection of their jewellery now. I chose a personalised necklace because I hadn’t had one with my name on for years and thought it was simple but edgy at the same time. I wear it every day, haven’t taken it off since I got it in the post that’s how much I love it.

These next 3 things are from 3 separate people. First of all the light up H I got for my Birthday it was from Hobbycraft. It’s actually quite bright. I’m unsure if they are still stocking them. Then I got this H notepad and I believe the person who bought it for me got it in Matalan at Christmas so there may still be some in their stationery collection. I am yet to use it, however there are tonnes of pages so I’m sure I can fill them up at some point. Lastly the mug. So simple but yet so mine. There isn’t anyone else in the family with my initial so of course it’s mine. It was from Home Bargains and I know they still have them.

Believe it or not I got this iPhone 6s case for £6.49 from Amazon of all places and it’s one of the best quality cases I’ve ever put in my phone and it looks pretty and it’s personal to me and I have a lot of compliments about it. They have other styles and for other models too so I reckon if you like mine you should take a nosey

Thanks for reading and I’ll see you in my next post

Til then…

Period Hacks/Essentials

4

Oh bloody hell….. its here….where was the warning…..i wasn’t prepared….how am i going to get through it….i hate it, i hate it.

Don’t you just love it when you get a visitor every month who won’t sod off til they are quite finished. I know I like to see mine come but I also can’t wait to see the back of it.

Having a period isn’t all bad it shows your body is still working and your reproductive system isn’t growing no babies inside so if you weren’t planning on being pregnant then having one is quite a relief.

However, it isn’t always plain sailing.  There are aches/pains, horrendous mood swings, emotional outbursts, mahoosive spots usually so noticeable no concealer can hide, and the thought of leaking sends your mind into panic.

I have put together a little list of things that can help you get through the week from hell with a little more comfort.

  • Use a period tracker – My favourite is CLUE. You can get it on the app store free and it lets you know when your most fertile days are, when you are next due and lets you record your symptoms throughout your 28-day cycle… I have a post about it here if you want to find out more. It’s so handy.
  • Have a hot water bottle, heat pads (that you stick on top of your underwear) or a homemade heat pad with a thick sock, some rice and then put it in the microwave. I can never be without my hot water bottle, period or not.
  • Having a  hot bath helps if you suffer from back pain as well as cramps. I always think I will leak in there so I wear some bikini bottoms.
  • Never wear your best underwear, have a stash of old ones that you don’t mind if you got blood on them – If you do a bit of salt and cold water rubbed together works a treat.
  • If you are craving chocolate during your period try and go for dark chocolate if you can has more iron in it which helps when you are losing blood.
  • This is a funny one – as soon as you feel your PMT coming on wear  RED nail varnish so the other half knows you are out of bounds and are probably going to become Godzilla if they say the wrong thing.
  • Have a stack of DVDs to get through whether they are ones to make you laugh or ones to make you bawl your eyes out. I sometimes find having a good cry helps but i guess everyone’s different.
  • Change your diet during your period to stop getting doubly bloated. Avoid fizzy drinks and starchy foods and eat plenty of fruit and keeping your fluids up too.
  • Stretch your left thumb and pointer finger and apply pressure one finger space down this will help alleviate any crampy pain and you can do it anywhere too.
  • Putting your legs up the wall whilst you are led on your bed somehow strangely helps the achiness you get during the first few days.
  • Last of all buy yourself some tea tree to get those spots gone pronto…this is my favourite The Body Shop Tea Tree anti blemish Solution

Some of these you may already know but I thought I’d just put a few down for you to make note of if you didn’t.

Also if you fancy a giggle here is my first period nightmare story… I cringe every time.
