Take time for you

Apologies for the absence of my blog posts, my heads been elsewhere.

I am having my big op to remove my bladder this Monday coming so I have been trying to get all bits sorted as after I’m going to be rather sore and need to take time to recover.

So today I gave myself a to do list but not one that’s going to be too much – more of a self care one so here it is

2 HOUR PHONE DETOX

I have an app called offline that you can get on the play store if you are on Android, I am pretty sure there is an alternative one for iPhone.

It stops you from using your phone for however long you set it for and only allows a few calls you’ve selected to be accepted – and I allowed Spotify so I could still listen to music. This allowed me to step back from scrolling through my phone for a few hours and do something more practical. You really should give it a go.

MEDITATION

Not all meditation requires you to sit cross legged and going ‘omm’ but if it works for you do it. I sat up in a chair – a comfortable one, and played some crackling fire music. This soothes me for some reason and I just tried to focus on happy things, letting no negativity creep in. I done that for 20 mins and my mind definitely felt clearer after. Whatever sound or location you feel you can zone out in go with it, you might surprise yourself.

FACE MASK AND EXFOLIATION

I adore a face mask.Even if you don’t want to do a full on pampering it makes you feel like you’ve had a little bit of one. The 7th heaven ones are my favourite as they are inexpensive and come in loads of different varieties from peel off to mud. I used my body scrub from The Body Shop to make my skin silky smooth. It makes your body feel loved and not neglected just cos it’s under clothes at the moment.

SORT WARDROBE OUT

I literally had a quick nosey to see if there was anything that wasn’t going to be use to me after my operation, as having a stoma bag I’m not going to be able to wear tight things for some time. I decided that I would wait til it’s nearing the summer months and just buy myself some bits then and donate the winter bits I no longer need. Instead I sorted out my handbags and found £19.25 in change. Better than a smack in the mouth mother would say…I love her sayings.

RELAX WITH A BOOK AND MUSIC

I am saving this one until bedtime. I want an earlyish night so instead of watching the TV or YouTube I’m going to have a look on the kindle store and see what book I can get stuck into. The radio station I like to listen to at night is called THE BREEZE. If you like love songs and all the soppy songs then this ones for you, bit like Magic if you’ve heard of that station.

Taking time for yourself can be as hectic or as peaceful as you choose it to be. It doesn’t hurt every once in a while to do it.

Thanks for stopping by

Until next time

Trying something new

Stepping out of your comfort zone and trying something you don’t usually do. Theres fun to be had trying something new. (That was a little glimpse of my poetic self)

I have always been into writing and not been the artistic type. I have decided to try my hand at being creative in the shape of making things i find on Pinterest. Get my craft on.

Of course I’ll share my successes and failures with you all. I will be spending the next week on Pinterest making a board to work through. Then I’ll be getting some supplies in from Hobbycraft and The Range.

You are never too old to have a hobby and it is always great to share your journey too.

If you want to watch what i pin on my Pinterest click here and follow me.

Being a tiny bit productive

Those days when you don’t really want to do much but you push yourself to be a little bit productive around the house.

So you start off with a scroll through all your social media platforms and waste like half the morning getting lost in your phone.

Snacks are a must so you go into the fridge and you know you should eat the fruit but a chocolate bar is waving at you. So you do yourself a deal and eat both.

Grabbing your make up bag and pulling up a YouTube tutorial you give it your best shot and hope you don’t look like a clown.

Taking the rest of your day to really chill out and watch your favourite film or series for godness knows how long…it gives you the option to continue watching of course you’re gonna say yes.

Once you’ve done your bits and pieces to end the day like cleaning your teeth you unwind and put your headphones on and listen to your playlists of the moment.

Your lazy days don’t have to just be bed or sofa days. But please know there’s nothing wrong with that.

How do you like to spend a chill day?

It’s personal to me

I don’t know about you but I just love having things that nobody else has kind of bespoke. One of a kind. A few things I am featuring today are just that.

I will start off with my laptop it’s a ASUS 2-1 with stylus you can find it on PC World and I love it it’s small and just enough for me to put well anywhere I like. I have had it for a few months and thought I need to jazz it up a bit so I got some sticker paper and searched for the things that I love from google images which as you can see are Spotify, Netflix, WordPress, Twitter, My Blog and Wi-fi. Of course it had to be pink cos that’s just me.

Next is a Name Necklace that I was kindly sent from Ineffabless. I have a nice little collection of their jewellery now. I chose a personalised necklace because I hadn’t had one with my name on for years and thought it was simple but edgy at the same time. I wear it every day, haven’t taken it off since I got it in the post that’s how much I love it.

These next 3 things are from 3 separate people. First of all the light up H I got for my Birthday it was from Hobbycraft. It’s actually quite bright. I’m unsure if they are still stocking them. Then I got this H notepad and I believe the person who bought it for me got it in Matalan at Christmas so there may still be some in their stationery collection. I am yet to use it, however there are tonnes of pages so I’m sure I can fill them up at some point. Lastly the mug. So simple but yet so mine. There isn’t anyone else in the family with my initial so of course it’s mine. It was from Home Bargains and I know they still have them.

Believe it or not I got this iPhone 6s case for £6.49 from Amazon of all places and it’s one of the best quality cases I’ve ever put in my phone and it looks pretty and it’s personal to me and I have a lot of compliments about it. They have other styles and for other models too so I reckon if you like mine you should take a nosey

Thanks for reading and I’ll see you in my next post

Til then…

10 WAYS TO BOOST YOUR MOOD

Absolutely everybody gets a down day even the most happiest of people.

Nothing is wrong with looking for advice on how to find that smile again…I’ve done it myself in the past.

So I made this list back along in my journal and until now I didn’t think about sharing it with you.

  1. Grab a DVD (preferably a comedy) some snacks, a blanket and dim the lights.
  2. Light a scented candle, add some bubbles and jump in the tub.
  3. Make yourself an uplifting playlist of songs that make you smile for days when you need to turn to it.
  4. Phone a friend and arrange to meet up- tell them to bring laughter.
  5. Go shopping whether in town or online it is the best sort of therapy.
  6. Draw or write whichever you think your better at and let yourself get super creative.
  7. Go put on an item of clothing that brings you joy, in your fav colour preferably.
  8. Make your favourite meal / snack and really enjoy all the flavours
  9. Go for a walk, feel the fresh air hit your face and take in all the beautiful views you see.
  10. Give a hug to someone it’s so heartwarming and leaves you with that happy fuzzy feeling. You could be cheering up someone else in the process.

My Fab blogger friend Bella Inizio also did a blog post on this topic why not go check hers out too. (Click on her name and it’ll take you straight to it)

I hope my list helps in some way and if you ever feel sad know that I’m only a twitter message away.

Til next time….

How to get organised

Processed with MOLDIV

The first thing that springs to my mind when i think organised is a calendar. This can either be in paper form on your wall or digitally on your phone. if you hate crossings out on your calendar then using your phone one would be better.

Personally i think the best time to write out your to do list is the night before when its fresh in mind and you know you want to get stuff done. you can always take a little notepad with you and write on the go and organise it when you get home. The satisfaction is when you have everything ticked off your list.

Heres an example of a tidy phone. My phone to be exact. i find it’s better putting certain apps into folders then you know where to find them and your phone looks neat and clutter free. i am one of those that hates seeing loads of notifications too so i try to clean them up as soon as i receive them.

This goes for all the crap you have piled up here there and everywhere. As soon as you do your ironing pack it away. Same goes for paperwork put it in a file or in a drawer neatly and in some sort of order. Living in mess can be stressful if you don’t have a clue where things are.

tisy-up

Set yourself a timer when you need to get tasks done and then you will always be aiming to get it completed in that alloted time. I find this one comes in very handy.

I hope some of these have been helpful and you can put them to good use.
