The benefits of a facial roller

For a few months I just kept seeing so many influencers and YouTubers using these facial rollers and I caved in and thought I want to try one they look fun.

So I went and found myself one on my old trusty amazon

Mine is a Rose Quartz one, you can get Jade ones that are green and apparently they work differently.

A Jade roller revitalises the skin, wakes it up, makes your sluggish skin into stunning skin

A Rose Quartz roller on the other hand is full of minerals such as silcium, magnesium and Iron.

🌺 The silcium (silica) helps the elasticity in your skin

🌺 The magnesium helps relieve muscle spasms and helps headaches and sinus problems

🌺 The Iron helps regulate blood circulation and eliminates fatigue

So you can see why I chose the Rose Quartz over the Jade.

I guess the Jade one could be used in the morning and the Rose Quartz for the evening.

I find putting mine in the fridge adds a nice cooling effect to the skin.

Here’s the link to mine (I’m not sponsored or affiliated I just think it’s a fab product)

ROSE QUARTZ FACIAL ROLLER

Have any of you used one of these and have you seen any benefits from it?

Skincare faves

My skin is sensitive, dry and prone to spots so I need to pay attention to all the goings on of my face.

Olay has me covered with these 3 and it didn’t leave me out of pocket.

I’m pretty sure it was a 3 for 2 at boots so it was a win win all round.

At night I will use the beauty fluid to give my skin just enough moisture but not too much that it gets on my pillow.

Then in the morning I use my olay daily facials as they get off any dirt from overnight and I feel they help get rid of my dry areas in the process.

Then before I do my make up I use the day cream. It also acts as a primer too so it’s a perfect base for my foundation.

The worst thing I get if I don’t prep my skin before make up is dry skin underneath my foundation and nothing looks worse than that when every other part of your made up face looks lovely.

Boots haul 😍

I love a little chemist /drugstore splurge. Didn’t buy too much this time.

So here’s what fell into the basket 😂

I wanted a mascara that’s not too dramatic like my milani one but enough to look like I’ve made an effort and this is what I chose soap and glory thick and fast

I am nearly at the end of my Mac fluidline gel liner and I wanted to see if I could save the pennies and find something that does the same job so this Carter Beauty gel liner is on trial to see if he’s got the position.

We all love a concealer that covers a multitude of sons and this one is one I always go back to after trying others. It’s collection lasting perfection and it is just what it says in its name… Perfection

This wasn’t the shade I was expecting as online it looked lighter but this Collection lipstick is an absolute beaut of a colour for the autumn winter months. I can be a bit daring.

For years I have used olay in one way or another and this is something that I am just renewing that I think helps my dry skin. Daily facials and double action day cream. I recommend it if your combo like me.

Then if you spent over £20 you got this gift for free. I have 3 of the lipsticks to give away to whoever wants them as they are brown and not my colour. But the other goodies will come in handy.

There you have it my little boots haul.

What’s your favourite thing to get in boots?

Girly Nail look

I paint my nails myself, I’ve never been and had any sort of extensions or gels. My nails are natural and I’m proud of them… Not so when they break right in the quick but let’s hope they don’t do that for a while or else they’ll all have the chop 🙈

So here’s this week’s look

Taken out in my garden as there was sunlight and needed to take advantage of it.

These are the nail varnishes used and I love the 60 second ones from Rimmel.

The technic one is very old but still adds a little something to a plain colour.

I reckon the price was about £9 for all 3 so that’s alot cheaper than going to the salon.

Skincare for spot prone skin

When I did beauty therapy at college 12 years ago I always thought that the products we were using Dermalogica would never be in my price range.

Well it’s great when you spot a bargain, and that I did.

This Breakout clearing kit was £26. I am a sufferer of spots any time of the month so I’d be silly not to try it. The kit includes

  • a breakout clearing foaming wash
  • A breakout clearing booster
  • A skin soothing hydrating lotion.

The headband was a freebie.

This clear start blotting paper keyring is just perfect for on the go oily moments. He was also a freebie ( I’ll get to why at the end)

For when my skin in semi OK I thought this special cleansing gel would be one to alternate from the one in the kit. It was £11.50.

This daily microfoliant is meant to make your skin look radiant. I believe it will just not tried it yet. Its a powder. This was part of the freebie.

OK so you all probably know Toff from I’m a celebrity. She suffers with bad skin and works alongside Dermalogica. So if you spent over £30 and put in the code TOFF then you got some extras.

Not sure how long the offer is on but the freebies are about £20 if you bought them.

Oh this was at the bottom of the box, 4 of them actually. I’m hoping they make my skin perfect like their name.

Self care is the best care

Self care is not just all about putting on a face mask and pampering yourself, but my goodness doesn’t that sound like a great idea.

Self care is about taking care of you as a whole and making sure you are being kind to every part of you inside and out.

I’ve come up with a list of things to do on days when you need that extra more care and attention…mind, body and soul.

So here goes

  • Unplug your phone/ put it on do not disturb for an hour or two just let your mind just be
  • put on some relaxing music whether it’s acoustic or panpipes or just instrumental just enjoy the sounds.
  • Do a brain dump – grab a notebook and just unload what’s in your head onto one page it’ll help clear your head.
  • write poetry/ song. You will find it so therapeutic.
  • light some scented candles or diffuse essential oils. Get your area smelling serene.
  • Find an app to destress you I think insight app is great. A must try.
  • self massage, the bits you can get to just add moisture to it with either baby oil or a body lotion. Make your body feel loved.
  • Practise positive affirmations whether you say them out loud on in your head it will keep you in a positive mindset.
  • Do some yoga or some form of stretching, you’ll find that this will get rid of any tension built up inside.
  • Take a nap if needs be, it’s will renew your energy and get you in the mood to take on anything the day has in store for you
  • Make yourself a self care box of all things you love and that make you smile. If it fits put it in there.
  • Just enjoy your own company doing what ever your heart desires whether it’s watching a movie, eating your favourite food or singing along to your favourite songs.
