Blogger points : a monthly plan

Some of us just write a blog post and post it and aren’t overly fussed about how it does or who it’s inspired.

However the majority of us do, as it shows how you grow in your journey of blogging.

So I thought about the types of things we all could do throughout the month to stay ahead of ourselves.

– Publish new blog post

– Respond to comments

– Ensure all links in post work correctly

– Comment on 5-10 peoples blog posts

– Browse Internet for inspiration

– Promote on all your social media platforms

– Check and respond to ant emails / DMs you have

– Plan and start writing your next post

– Make mind maps or bullet points for future posts

– Use Pinterest to get ideas

– Take photographs, find graphics and quotes to use in your blog posts.

– Continue to share your posts over on your socials but don’t over do it… You don’t want to appear annoying.

– Have a evaluation of how your blog is performing, print out the insights and see which ones your readers are most interested in

– Improve on things in your blog that you spot isn’t working so great, maybe your schedule of the days you post or the type of content you put out.

– Look at the theme and think do you still love it, because if you don’t… It needs to change.

I could go on and on but those were just a few pointers.

The most important thing is to interact with your readers in your blog post, the comments and then in their blog posts too. Be a loyal follower 🌸

Wish Bits and bobs

You know and I know that when you buy from wish you really dunno what your getting until it arrives…

Sometimes they’ve sent the wrong thing out (there’s no option for that item so it’s pot luck out of the ones in that description … A Wait and see)

But I thought I’d show you the things I got from there and I like 😊

Love me a phone case that not everyone else is going to have so these two are cool because I love watermelons so these were actually FREE so it was just £1 for postage.

I mean who doesn’t want some pretty pens. So these are all different colours. The collection of pens are gel and different colours and the flamingo pen is like biro. Just paying postage for these too which is just great.

This was my first purchase and yes I miss my long hair terribly.

The Tshirt was a bit tight fitting around my derriere so I cut it into a cropped tee and wore a strappy top underneath. Clothes from a different country like China you never know the fit so it’s a take a risk and hope for the best.

These ear pods I was expecting to be piss poor quality and a waste of £4 and £3 delivery but they have proved themselves and I reckon are up there with apple, obviously the sound quality is not as crisp but if you just want them for general use then they are fab and come in black, white and rose gold.

Lastly a pill box. I always need to take some tablets throughout the day and taking all the boxes can be bulky so just putting what I need in this little cute flamingo box is ideal. I believe it was FREE and £1 for postage.

So my advice is have a nose and take the plunge for a couple of quid.

My Blogger Essentials

img_20190905_175627_5922195517143107056890.jpg

As a blogger there are always the essentials you need other than WiFi 🙈

So first of all I get my whiteboard out, think about which category I want to touch on, and then I mind map and see what I can come up with.

I have my notepad handy for list-making, researching and just taking note of things I want to go into a blog post. Of course there are doodles when my mind just goes blank but it’s always good to have a notepad handy.

My laptop of course is when I have my Blogger head on and don’t just want to do it from my phone. It’s always good to see what the bigger picture looks like if you get me.

My diary is where I can schedule in my blog posts and also keep an eye on how many I’ve done. I tend to not write too much in advance unless I know I won’t be able to write for a while.

The cute pen just makes me feel productive. Plus how could I walk past a fluffy pen…It gave me 90s vibes.

My Blogger must have essentials

We as bloggers love to experiment with different things on the market to see what will help us as creative writers and add a bit of pyzaz to it.

Well these are some of the things that I have purchased that I wouldn’t be without.

You can click on the coloured link and it’ll take you there. (not sponsored or paid in any way)

Living in England there’s only a little sun so when it goes in before you can get a good shot something else has to be that artificial light and this ring light is just perfect. Not bulky, not over big and can easily be tucked away. You can put your phone on it and record videos or take selfies too which is a great added feature.

RING LIGHT AND TRIPOD WITH SELFIE HOLDER

If you are out and about and want to throw a bit of light on your face when you’re taking a selfie a little ring light that you can attach to your phone for under a tenner is something not to miss. Easily charged by USB or power if you have a spare plug.

RECHARGEABLE RING LIGHT FOR PHONE

If you have been looking for the tripod that you can depend on then the Gorilla pod is the best one out there in my opinion. You can bend it any way and even wrap around the tree for hand’s free photos. This one is for your camera and is under £30.

GORILLA POD TRIPOD

Then of course there’s a smaller one you can put in your bag and put your phone on it. I believe its £10. Bloody bargain.

GORILLA MINI POD TRIPOD FOR PHONE

Well I have to say I don’t use my camera that often I prefer my phone as its more to hand. When I do use a camera I grab my Sony A6000 which has fab specs and well worth getting.

SONY A6000 INTERCHANGEABLE LENS DIGITAL CAMERA

For the last few months since my upgrade I can honestly say the Huawei P20 Pro is a bloggers phone indeed. The battery life is great, the 3 cameras in it has such quality and its super slim to fit into your pocket or bag.

HUAWEI P20 PRO 128GB

I wanted a laptop that wasn’t too cumbersome and that I could take with me on the go if needed, so when I stumbled across the Asus Transformer Book Mini it was exactly what I was after. With the detachable screen and the pen I just had to get it. It was on offer when I got it but its still affordable for a nifty piece of kit.

BOOK MINI 10.1

Not every blogger will need one but if you also like making videos/podcasts or voiceovers then a microphone like this one is the perfect addition to your blogging essentials.

I hope by sharing my faves it may give you food for thought – more like tech for thought.

Monthly favourites – MAY

It’s the last day of May today, summer is finally upon us.

I always bring you a monthly favourites so here is this months

My Favourite song – Lola by The Kinks

This song is an old love. It’s been on a few Spotify playlists so a good excuse to listen to it and sing along slightly out of tune too. I said to my mum years ago if I could change my name from Holly I would choose Lola. I think it’s quirky and different.

App of the Month – Colour Checker / Asana

I like to make To Do Lists and then tick as I go. Sometimes my iPad/phone is nearer to me than a notepad so it’s easier to make my lists there.

Both of these are great apps. The colour checker is a simple one you can colour code your goal/ chore / thing to complete. Asana you can break things down and even delegate to others if you add their email to your app account. I find this one helpful if I have bullet points for my blog posts and pics to not quite put on here quite yet. Think a blogger would benefit from either of these.

Quote of the month –

No matter what things you go through in life, there will be happier times and this quote will give you comfort in knowing that. Got to love a quote with a positive message.

Favourite Tech bits

My MPOW wireless headphones I’ve had a while. I really do love shutting out the world and listen to my music, watch a film or a YouTube video at the end of the day these are perfect if you can’t afford beats or can’t justify spending over 100 pounds on headphones.

I have never had an all singing all dancing printer. The two I’ve had before were meant to be wireless but have ended up not connecting and then the paper getting stuck. So mum treated us to this one the HP Envy 5032. It is touch screen, so even mum can understand how to use it. There’s this instant ink too that you get 13 months free then only £1.99 a month for 50 prints which is perfect for me as I don’t print out loads.

Think that’s a long enough post, don’t want you nodding off.

June, I’m ready for you.

Hope you’ve had a fab May.

See you in my next post

LISTEN UP: DON’T LET SOCIAL MEDIA DIM YOUR LIGHT

I am a few days behind putting up my podcast episode on here but hey, better late than never.

It is all about social media and how some people use it wrongly and how to go about it the right way and also how I use it for the greater good.

I did touch on this in a previous blog post here  if you fancy a read

If you would rather listen to me chat then click on one of the links below

No account is needed to listen on SoundCloud just your ears.

If you don’t have Spotify you are seriously missing out, what a fab app.

For all you Apple users out there.

See you in my next post… much loves

NOVEMBER: MONTHLY FAVOURITES

Last month i remember wishing the leaves would change colour and fall off. The trees surrounding our house are completely naked. So my wish was granted. However mother bagged them all up from the garden and it looks like there never was any.

So November has been a funny month, blink and you would have missed it.

First of all my favourite thing this month was having my hair cut and donating 10 inches of it.

Then comes these:

FAVOURITE SONG

I heard it on the radio and good old shazam told me the title and who it was by.

It was Don’t worry baby by The Beach boys – I remember it being on the film never been kissed and loving the song back then.

FAVOURITE PRODUCTS

I have absolutely loved the Vanilla Marshmallow range from The Body Shop. It’s not your typical Christmas scent but I’m pretty sure it’s part of the Christmas ones. I did go a bit mad in the sale but I’ll smell bloody beautiful so it’s all good.

FAVOURITE BLOGGER

One of my followers over on Instagram that I’ve been in touch with from the start of my blogging journey has been an absolute babe especially when i need cheering up.

Shes from South Africa and you will love her too i guarantee it – her name is Victoria otherwise known as toridacosta her blog is Allthingsbelo

FAVOURITE APP

I have had this on my android phone for a few months then i saw someone using it on a YouTube video i was watching and on apple it has so many features that it doesn’t have on android. You can turn videos into something original and really wonderful. Its free aswell its called PocketVideo (all one word). I use it all the time now for all sorts of projects and on Instagram.

FAVOURITE QUOTE

You know me i am all about being confident in your own skin and when i saw this i just had to include it as my favourite for this month

I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing what I’ve loved this month. Let me know what’s made your November.
