My prom story – Throwback

I left school hell of a long time ago…. 2002 to be exact.

Round about this time was the last few exams and then prepping for the big event which was PROM.

So I had been beat up by a group of girls a month before and mum and me had bought my dress in a charity shop for £17.50 and i really felt special in it but because my confidence had been knocked severely it wasn’t quite the exciting night I had hoped for.

I was a bag of nerves, that feeling of oh my god I’m gonna barf on me pretty dress but luck was on my side. That was before we had even picked up my mates.

Got there unscathed and smiles when I saw all my mates.

Photos were taken outside the venue, this one above was me and one of my besties at school Soph. I didn’t have an ounce of make up on as my face still hurt from getting beat up but my sis did my hair really lovely so I half felt like a princess.

I probably stayed for half the night and then dad had to come pick me up because I started to panic.

I can actually say I went though and it’s good to look back at pics of everyone else looking gorgeous too.

This was our last day of school with my bestie Jessica aka Trev. Still besties now and I’m blessed that we still are just as close.

Thought since most year 11s will be going to their proms this month it’ll be good to chat about mine.

Thanks for stopping by

Have A Happy Holly Day

I’m sorry but I couldn’t resist getting my light box out and adding it to the festive decorations.

When I was younger I would always sing that song and insist it was Holly day instead of holiday. Still makes me laugh now.

It’s just over a week until Christmas Day and I’m going to hold my hands up and say that I’m not really ready for it. I have bought a few pressies and the rest will be rush buying a few days before.

With my nieces and nephew it’s more magical when I see them at Christmas as they still believe that Santa brought them it all and not their Mum and Dad and when you’re younger Christmas is so much more exciting.

Ever since I was 7 and my brother broke the news that the Father Christmas at the party we were at was actually Dad. It kind of burst my bubble and I had to keep my mouth shut to those who still believed.

I however am looking forward to spending Christmas Day with my Mum, Brother, Auntie, Uncle and Cousins. I’ll be the youngest there unless Craig my brother brings Daisy who’s 16 months and quite knowing.

We always have our lunch quite late say 3pm whilst listening to the Queen do her speech and then play some games that always have prizes if you win. Alcoholic beverages are out late afternoon – and nibbles and a buffet tea. Some of us go and watch the soaps as they are always good on Christmas Day. There’s always the record button though which there never was back in the day ooo apart from a VHS.

Then it’s Boxing Day – off to the sales if you’re interested in saving a pound or two or carry on the festive period by having a knees up with friends.

There you go blink and it’s over… Don’t forget it’s ok to Eat, drink and be merry without feeling guilty.

Thanks for reading – go have some fun

Throwback: Beauty Products of the 90s

Since i spent most of my teenage years in the 90s and it was when i first started experimenting with different beauty products…i wasn’t allowed to touch my mums small collection of lipsticks. Mum is a natural beauty and doesn’t wear much slap 🙂

Lets take a trip down old memory lane and see what i found/remembered:

Rimmel Hide The Blemish Concealer

My first item of make up i owned that i just used to apply under my eyes and on my spots i must of looked a right plank. I think that Rimmel still make the exact same concealer.

Bourjois Volume Clubbing Blue Mascara

Blue mascara was the rage i really dunno why as it looked bloody hideous well it did on me but because i wanted to fit in i wore it hideously well.

Wella Shaders & Toners

I bought these literally every week as my mum used to say your not old enough to start messing about with your hair. They were Cheap too so spending a little pocket money on them was well worth it.

The Signature Scent

In my school bag was always a Charlie Pink. i didn’t understand when people had the red or the black one. Guess my obsession for pink started then.

Every Christmas my mum would slip a Tommy Girl into my stocking it was tradition and my brother had the male equivalent.

The exclamation was what my sister used to wear i wasn’t a fan but when i had forgot my Charlie it was better than nothing.

All three of these are still available to buy shows that some things never go out of fashion.

Johnsons Holiday Skin

I can’t help but laugh. I had gone a bit silly with it as i thought it was idiot proof but i had started gradually doing it on my arms and then distributing to other areas of my body only for it to be patchy and streaky as hell. Mum had to scrub me to get it off. Lets just say it went in the bin once used…Never again.

Johnsons Baby Powder

The days before Batiste Dry Shampoo came good old Talc. On the days when i just couldn’t be assed to wash my hair so i supported a slap head ponytail and a fluffy full fringe what an attractive look.

I blame the products for my mishaps…if they hadn’t of made them i wouldn’t have looked so silly.

But hey lessons are learnt growing up and the 90s was memorable for sure.

Throwback Thursday: What was I wearing…mum what were you thinking?

I am going to take you back to when I was young and carefree and it seems my mum was carefree too…apparently the clothes I wore was all the rage back then..ok mother I believe you.

I was about 4 and 6 here and to be fair i think i look alright. I have an absolute legend on board..Roland Rat. Still have him now.  These are the two most sensible pics out of all of the ones that I’m going to show you.

tbt-1

My tights matched my coat cuffs so i did have some style back then and i actually like the pink dress i have on too.

tbt-2

You know when you start to remember things? i must have been 5 as i remember the dodgy full fringe i had when i started school and every party i had out came the sailor dress. i bet mum got teary when it wouldn’t fit me anymore. The coat was out of a catalogue and looks like shell suit patterns…please don’t let that trend come back in once is enough.

The lucky thing about having a sibling is your parents don’t need to fork out too much you just get the older ones hand me downs that are usually too big however me and Craig loved the turtles so I didn’t complain on this occasion.

I have to take full responsibility for these two outfit choices. The pink chords were a fashion statement i wanted to be different and the tinsel tie and white shoes were for Christmas at my after school job. Both look absolutely  hideous but i didn’t think so at the time.

To End my throwback post today i thought I’d add a video in too {hand over face)
